Goodyear marks its 100th year in the Philippines

“100 Years of Driving Filipino Innovation Forward.” Good year Philippines in its centennial year will be holding many year-long activities for drivers and families. With a hundred years of providing tires to the Filipino people, Goodyear, continues to deliver its promise of providing high-quality tires that offer safer driving experiences for everyone. 

Back in 1919, the brand started out as, Goodyear Tire and Rubber company of Akron, Ohio. The tire maker later found footing in the motoring landscape and has been innovating ever since. As growth continued, the company found itself in the Philippines. Since the archipelago is situated in a strategic economic zone, Good year set up its warehouse and manufacturing here to serve as the central hub and warehouse facility for China, Japan, Indonesia, and other Eastern territory. 

Goodyear put up a plant in the Philippines back in 1956. The first plant cost Goodyear a total of twelve million US dollars to make. 1956 also marks the first Goodyear tire manufactured in the Philippines. Meant for Jeepneys, the 6.00 - 16  6PR, that was presented to former- president Ramon Magsaysay. 

Good year Philippines celebrated a breakthrough with the launch of the wide Grip 65. Highly acclaimed and known for being the only 65 profile tire for passenger cars in the Philippines, it is only one of many other innovations that the Goodyear company has pioneered throughout the years. 

Back in 2016, Goodyear revamped its sales format to modernize the way it conducts its business. The rebrand and relaunch of the company’s modern retail format for its service centers netted the Goodyear Autocare center. The new shop format serves as the after-warranty, quick-service center for customers who want and expect nothing but quality products and quality after-sales service. Also in 2016, was the launch of the Wrangler TripleMax. Designed for Mid-size SUVs, the tire features superior wet braking performance for all weather reliability. 

In 2017, the EfficientGrip Performance SUV tire by Goodyear was released. Dubbed as the quietest SUV tire because of its innovative QuietTred Technology, owners can enjoy a comfortable and quiet ride. Road vibration and noise is mitigated through Goodyear’s stellar technologies without sacrificing the grip that the tire has to offer.

For those looking for a more hard core option, Goodyear also brought the Wrangler All-terrain range from North America, the Wrangler MT/R is equipped with Kevlar sidewalls, the Wrangler Duratrac, and the Wrangler All-terrain Adventure.
