Things are looking optimistic for Korean automaker, Hyundai, this year as the all-new Elantra and Tucson models took home notable accolades in the 2016 iF Design Awards.
The iF Design Awards has been around since 1953. Organized in Germany by the iF International Forum Design GmbH, it’s now a beacon for the world’s highly-skilled creative minds to showcase their designing talents.
Hyundai’s 2 popular models won in the “Product” discipline’s “Automobiles/Vehicles/Bikes” category. But this is not the first time for the brand to win the coveted award. Back in 2014, the Hyundai Genesis took the spotlight followed by the Hyundai i20 a year later.
The iF juries gave props to the Elantra because of how Hyundai reflected their brand direction called “Modern Premium” into the vehicle’s overall design. The car’s got this new hexagonal grille that’s flanked with sleek headlights. These design elements add to its sporty aura.
On the other hand, the Tucson was also cited by the iF officials for its bold, athletic design. It too has the brand’s signature hexagonal grille that compliments the front fascia’s new set of LED headlights. The A-pillar was also repositioned to align with the directional shape of the wheel arch.
The interior also reflects the same modern styling, especially the added soft touch materials and the new design center console. Hyundai says that this center dash with its new horizontal layout “conveys the car’s elegance while increasing the feeling of roominess.”
