MINI JCW Challenge

MINI built a new limited edition track-oriented car called the John Cooper Works (JCW) Challenge. According to the British brand, it can take track-driving performance to a whole new level without sacrificing everyday "comforts and refinements."

This car, which is based on the latest JCW Hatch, is developed by OX4 Racing, a racing team run exclusively by MINI employees.

The MINI JCW Challenge is fitted with the JCW Pro Aerokit which features lower front splitters, rear spoiler, rear diffuser, and rear splitters for better aerodynamic performance.

Other enhancements are a set of 17-inch lightweight alloy wheels wrapped in the super sticky Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, Brembo brakes, carbon fibre mirror covers, JCW Pro exhaust, and the racing stripes on its hood and boot.

For its interior, a “Carbon Black” theme can be seen. The standard specification includes piano black interior trim, rear park distance control, rain sensor with auto headlight activation, and adaptive LED headlights.

However, to give it a touch of exclusivity, the passenger side fascia of each car bears its unique build number in the series.

MINI managed to squeeze in a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine with the brand’s Twin Turbo Power technology under its hood which delivers 231 hp and 320 Nm of torque. It is then mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The brand claims that it can also go from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds before reaching a top speed of 246 km/h.

MINI is set to debut the JCW Challenge at the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Of note, MINI will produce only 100 units of the JCW Challenge and it will all be sold exclusively to the United Kingdom.
