Aside from the GT-R, Nissan Philippines Inc. (NPI) has brought the refreshed Altima at the 6th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS). Compared to its predecessor, Nissan’s executive midsize sedan now comes with a sharper and more angular exterior design.
The 2017 Altima is fitted with restyled headlights which now comes in LED. The Altima’s fascia is also integrated with a revamped V-motion grille, more aggressive bumper, and new fog lamps. Turning at the side, the vehicle’s overall design looks similar to the outgoing model. What separates the new model from the old, is the 2-tone alloy wheels which give more character to the Altima.
Cosmetic tweaks continue to be seen at the rear through the Altima’s larger taillights, which now extends to the trunk. It also has a redesigned bumper and dual exhaust pipes.
Inside, the vehicle now features a black interior theme along with a new ‘smart cockpit’ according to Nissan. It has a 3-spoke steering wheel with multi-function controls that allows drivers to switch modes – audio control; drive computer; phone connectivity; and cruise control. Moreover, the Altima has leather power seats, 9 speaker Bose audio system, push start button, and sunroof.
In terms of safety, the 2017 Altima now comes with speed sensing door locks, airbags and Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) with active understeer control. The VDC is an advanced electronic driving aid that minimizes understeer for a more confident and safer driving.
The 2017 Altima is powered by the same 2.5L engine that delivers 180 hp and 243 Nm of torque. It is then mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
The refreshed Altima is available for P1,745,000 and comes in Black Obsidian, Pearl White, and Cayenne Red.
