7 features we love in the Isuzu mu-X

The Isuzu mu-X is a quiet contender in the PPV segment. In a place dominated by three names, specifically, the Montero Sport, the Everest, and the Fortuner, the mu-X has steadily carved its own niche and gained a strong foothold in the market with its own diverse strengths to show.

The mu-X may not be the poster child for the PPV market in the Philippines, but it doesn’t mean that Isuzu’s SUV is one you should overlook. If you’re looking for a new SUV, these seven features of the mu-X may sway you to choose it.

mu-X DVR

The Isuzu mu-X is ready for the cities, and we don’t mean that it’s smaller than other PPVs; it’s because Isuzu has fitted it with the necessary tech for you to survive the chaos of driving in the metro. As standard, the mu-X LS-A and LS-E variants come with a digital video recorder (DVR). Not only does this remove the need to fit an aftermarket dashcam, but the mu-X’s infotainment system is also equipped with a playback function, making choosing the footage you want easy and hassle-free. It allows you to record driving moments you want to keep or for accessing footage for road incidents.

mu-X Front Quarter

Isuzu tweaked the mu-X’s exterior in its latest facelift, giving the SUV a more aggressive front fascia inspired by modern fighter jets. Like fighter jets, the design of the mu-X is not only for show, as it comes with aerodynamic benefits as well. Dubbed the “Air Curtain,” the mu-X’s front bumper features a system that channels airflow through the bumper and out around the front wheels, then down the sides of the vehicle to optimize airflow and improve aerodynamic efficiency.

Improved aerodynamics bring added benefits such as better fuel efficiency at high speeds and reduced wind noise, greatly enhancing the overall driving experience.

mu-X Engine

Unlike most PPVs on the market, Isuzu gives you two flavors of engines to choose from in the mu-X lineup. First is the 1.9-liter RZ4E-TC engine, which develops 148 hp and 350 Nm of torque, followed by the full-fat 3.0-liter 4JJ3-TCX engine that puts out 187 hp and 450 Nm of torque. Even in its most affordable variant, Isuzu’s engines provide lots of usable power, more than enough to shift a full load of passengers, cargo, and then some.

Going for the top-trim LS-E 4x4 gives drivers access to Isuzu’s 4WD system with Terrain Command Select and Rough Terrain Mode, a smart system designed to give drivers an edge over any type of terrain they encounter.

mu-X Dashboard

If Isuzu brings an image of ruggedness and utility to mind, think again, as the mu-X delivers a surprisingly luxurious and comfortable interior. The mu-X’s seats are wrapped in plush black leather upholstery, complemented by matte silver trim accents and soft-touch materials placed throughout the cabin. These premium touches give the interior a more refined look and feel, elevating it beyond what you would typically expect from a body-on-frame SUV.

Adding to the sense of comfort is the mu-X’s ambient lighting, which creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere inside the cabin. Whether you are driving at night or simply enjoying a relaxed cruise, the subtle lighting enhances the interior’s overall vibe while making the space feel more upscale and inviting for both the driver and passengers.

mu-X Fuel Tank Protector

Above, passengers are protected from the elements and potential accidents by the mu-X’s array of safety systems. Below, Isuzu has taken measures to protect vital components of the SUV from damage as well. Standard across the mu-X range is a front skid plate, an oil pan guard, and a fuel tank protector. An extra layer of defense to help keep the mu-X going for longer.

Tailgate

The Isuzu mu-X is designed to make everyday driving easier, whether you are running errands in the city or heading out on a long road trip. Convenience starts the moment you approach the vehicle, with power-folding side mirrors that tuck in with a press of a button. At the rear, a power tailgate adds another layer of practicality, allowing you to load and unload cargo with minimal effort, especially when your hands are full.

Inside, thoughtful touches continue to improve daily usability. Keyless entry and push-button start simplify getting on the move, while automatic climate control keeps the cabin comfortable regardless of outside conditions. Multiple storage compartments and charging points are strategically placed throughout the cabin, ensuring that both driver and passengers have space for their belongings and easy access to power for their devices.

AVM

Inside the mu-X, the dashboard immediately reflects Isuzu’s focus on modern technology. At the center is a large touchscreen infotainment system that serves as the hub for entertainment, connectivity, and vehicle information. Depending on the variant, wired or wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto provide seamless access to navigation, music, and calls, keeping drivers connected without unnecessary distractions.

The digital instrument display provides clear, easy-to-read information, including driving data and safety alerts, helping the driver stay informed at a glance. Steering wheel-mounted controls further enhance convenience, allowing you to manage audio, calls, and driver assistance features without taking your hands off the wheel. Together, these tech-forward elements create a dashboard that feels intuitive and well-suited to both daily commutes and longer journeys.
