Last August, Ford Philippines unveiled the updated Ford Territory. By now, you’ve likely heard the headlines—hybrid power and a refreshed exterior. If you’re in the market for a hybrid crossover, this latest evolution makes the Territory a compelling choice.
That said, the crossover segment is highly competitive, with nearly every brand offering a direct rival to the Territory. And while the Territory has been a trendsetter, it still needs to maintain an edge to stay in fighting form. Fortunately, the updates go beyond a hybrid powertrain and refreshed styling. So if you’re still on the fence, here are five features that might just win you over.
More power, less fuel consumption
The Territory Hybrid utilizes a 1.5-liter inline-four Dedicated Hybrid Engine, matched to a two-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission and a 1.83 kW Lithium-Ion NCM high-voltage battery. On its own, the engine produces 148 hp and 230 Nm of torque, while the electric motor contributes up to 215 hp and 315 Nm. Ford did not go too crazy on rewriting the Territory’s recipe, instead opting for a more practical self-charging full hybrid system, no need to charge, the car keeps the batteries topped up for you.
In addition to the increased power, the Territory Hybrid now consumes less fuel compared to its pure internal combustion version. Ford says it can do 19.6 km/L in mixed city and highway driving conditions, which is pretty impressive.
A more composed ride
In addition to its new drivetrain, Ford also upgraded the Territory’s suspension. The setup remains the same—MacPherson struts up front and a multi-link independent suspension at the rear—but the tuning has been refined. The result is a ride that feels more compliant and composed through corners, while remaining supple and relaxed on the road.
A more intuitive Human Machine Interface
Ford has also refreshed the Territory’s 12-inch infotainment setup, known as the Human Machine Interface. The crisp, high-resolution display still handles the essentials—navigation, entertainment, and vehicle settings—but it now comes with a clever upgrade. Drivers can adjust the climate controls without exiting the phone projection screen, fixing one of the biggest frustrations with modern infotainment systems.
Comfort Braking and other Advanced Driver Assist Systems
Another addition to the hybrid Territory’s suite of driver aids is Comfort Braking technology. This feature is designed to maintain passenger comfort during hard braking by reducing how much the crossover dives in emergency stops. The result is a more composed ride that keeps both the vehicle stable and your passengers safe and comfortable. Beyond this, the Territory comes standard with a solid set of safety and convenience features, including electronic stability control, traction control, hill launch assist, hill descent control, rear parking sensors, and up to six airbags. An upgraded 360-degree camera system with split-view functionality further enhances visibility and ease of maneuvering.
The Titanium X builds on this foundation with an even more advanced package of driver-assist technologies. The Titanium X's kit includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane keeping aid, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. It also adds autonomous emergency braking, forward collision warning, and lane departure warning with lane centering control.
Acoustic Glass
It’s a common gripe with many cars, new or old, that once you go past a certain speed on the highway, wind noise starts creeping into the cabin and drowning everything out. To address this issue on the highway, Ford equipped the Territory with acoustic glass for the front windshield, reducing the intrusion of wind and road noise. This addition not only cuts down on wind noise at speed, but also quietens the interior overall.
