Electric vehicles are no longer just a novelty for early adopters. They are slowly becoming a practical option for everyday Filipino families looking to cut fuel costs and try something new without breaking the bank. Enter the Bestune Joyee 3, FAW Group's compact electric crossover that has made its way to the Philippine market. With the sole HeartJoy variant, the Joyee 3 comes with a surprising mix of tech, comfort, and safety features that make it worth a look for families shopping in the EV space. Here are five reasons why it might just fit the bill.
A tastefully designed and modern interior
The Joyee 3 HeartJoy variant keeps things modern inside with a wraparound cockpit design, synthetic leather seats, and an 8.8-inch LCD instrument cluster paired with a large 14.6-inch ultra-thin touchscreen. It also gets automatic climate control, rear air vents, a PM2.5 air filter, slim hidden air vents, and a six-speaker audio system. Practical touches such as a six-way power-adjustable driver's seat, panoramic glass roof, one-touch power windows, and keyless entry and start help make the cabin feel appropriately equipped for a modern family EV.
Enough power and range for daily life
Power comes from a front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 122 kW, or 166 hp, along with 200 Nm of torque. The HeartJoy variant uses a 48.35 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery and has a claimed CLTC range of up to 445 km, which should provide plenty of headroom for daily commutes and regular errands. Bestune also lists a 30 to 80 percent DC fast-charging time of around 30 minutes. Using an AC charger takes 8.3 hours from empty to a full charge, which is quick enough for an overnight top-up.
Adequate space for the family and more
At 4,450 mm long and 1,860 mm wide, the Joyee 3 has the footprint of a compact crossover but benefits from a relatively long 2,750 mm wheelbase. It seats five and comes with rear air vents and a rear center headrest, helping make the second row more accommodating for family trips. With its size, it’s a crossover that’s easy enough to live with in the city without sacrificing the basic passenger space expected from a family-oriented crossover.
Versatile for family life
Cargo capacity is another strong point. The Joyee 3 offers 381 liters of trunk space, which can expand to as much as 1,601 liters with the rear seats folded. The false floor of the Joyee 3 can also be adjusted to be deeper or shallower, which can allow it to accommodate larger items like a spare tire, for example. That flexibility should come in handy for everything from groceries and strollers to larger bags and occasional weekend getaways. The 40/60 split-folding rear seats also means you won’t have to worry about choosing between extra cargo space or your passengers.
Safe inside and out
The Joyee 3 also comes with dual front airbags, front side airbags, and full-length curtain airbags. It also includes a tire pressure monitoring system, rear parking sensors, emergency call service, anti-theft protection, and a full suite of fundamental driving aids including ABS, EBD, traction control, vehicle dynamics control, hill-start assist, auto vehicle hold, hill descent control, hill hold control, and controlled deceleration parking.
For families looking to make the switch to an EV, the Bestune Joyee 3 brings together the essentials in a practical package. It may not chase outright luxury, but its blend of technology, usable range, flexible cargo space, and safety equipment makes it a sensible option for everyday family life. Plus, it comes at a very accessible price of P1,388,000, a price point you’d expect from EVs that are smaller than it.
