Subcompact crossovers are all the rage these days, and there’s really no surprise as to why. The combination of interior space, ride height, and affordability makes these types of cars an attractive proposition for Filipino drivers.
What we’re featuring today is a new crossover to come out from Chery called the Tiggo Cross, and based on what we see on the spec sheet, it has a great mixture of features and qualities that could be a great daily driver. Without further ado, these are the features in question.
Adequate power for the city

A daily driver doesn’t have to be fast, but it still needs to have decent pulling power while maintaining a respectable degree of fuel efficiency. Powering the Tiggo Cross has exactly those qualities. Its beating heart is a naturally aspirated 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine paired to a CVT with nine simulated speeds and a Tiptronic mode. The engine puts out 112 hp and 141 Nm of torque, more than enough grunt to get you up to speed inside the city and on highways.
An array of safety features

The modern daily driver need not be Spartan, and such is the case with the Tiggo Cross. Starting with the basics, this subcompact crossover features disc brakes on all four wheels, providing powerful stopping power. The brakes are complemented by ABS, electronic brake force distribution, and brake assist.
In addition, the Tiggo Cross also comes with driver aids such as hill descent control, traction control, parking sensors, an electronic stability program, and a tire pressure monitoring system.
Last but not least, the Tiggo Cross also features six SRS airbags, an anti-theft system, and a vehicle immobilizer. Pretty outstanding for a car in this price point.
A fully packed exterior
The interior is not the only thing loaded in the Tiggo Cross; the exterior also has a few goodies in store. On the outside, the Tiggo Cross features a rugged and sporty exterior, with the main draw being the large diamond accent front grille, LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, LED taillights, and some stylish 17-inch wheels. Plus, if the space inside is lacking, the Tiggo Cross is equipped with roof rails ready to be installed with a roof rack for more cargo capacity.
Convenience features

The Tiggo Cross’s dashboard features dual 10.25-inch displays for the instrument cluster and infotainment system. Focusing on the infotainment system, this screen comes available with Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto, complemented by four speakers and two tweeters. If you’re a driver who’s regularly on the go and doesn’t want to fiddle around with the vehicle too much before heading out, these connectivity features are indispensable for a comfortable drive.
A simple yet comfortable interior
Inside, the Tiggo Cross features a modern interior with enough space for five passengers. The seats are upholstered in a combination of black leatherette and fabric, giving them a clean and sporty look. From the steering wheel to the center stack, Chery has designed the Tiggo Cross to be intuitive and ergonomic, featuring physical toggles and buttons for the air conditioning and other interior controls.
The Tiggo Cross is a subcompact crossover that’s easy to get used to, with controls located exactly where you’d expect them. If you’re looking for a new daily driver with a sense of familiarity, this is it.
