Two years since it launched in the Philippines, let’s revisit the Ford Ranger to find out why people can’t get enough of Ford’s midsize pickup truck.

The Ford Ranger is one of the pickup trucks that marked the transition from rugged, basic workhorses to more lifestyle-oriented vehicles. Even in its most basic variant, the 4x4 XL, Ford has equipped it with a 10-inch portrait touchscreen infotainment system featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, four speakers, and USB charging ports.

Opting for the top-tier variant provides additional features, including a 12-inch portrait touchscreen infotainment system, power-adjustable driver’s seats, leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, smart keyless entry, and a variety of intelligent driver aids.

Here in the Philippines, the Ford Ranger comes with two powertrain options. The first option is a 2.0-liter Single-Turbo EcoBlue diesel engine, producing 168 hp at 3,500 rpm and 405 Nm of torque from 1,750 to 2,500 rpm. This engine is available with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.

Ford 2.0-liter Bi-Turbo Diesel

The higher-spec engine is a 2.0-liter Bi-Turbo EcoBlue diesel, delivering 210 hp at 3,750 RPM and 500 Nm of torque from 1,750 to 2,000 RPM. This engine, exclusively paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and an electronic rear-locking differential, is exclusive to the Wildtrak 4x4 model.

Even in its 2.0-liter powered variant, with 168 hp and 405 Nm of torque, the Ford Ranger performs exceptionally well on the road. It easily reaches highway speeds and provides confidence during overtaking maneuvers or while hauling heavy loads up steep roads. Moving up to the bi-turbo version simply enhances performance, offering even more power and an added dose of excitement.
