The future of luxury: Five smart features that define the AITO M7

The AITO brand is a new face in the automotive industry, born from a collaboration between two Chinese companies: tech giant Huawei and Seres, an automobile manufacturer. The AITO M7 is a product of this partnership, and while the brand name itself is only three years old, the crossover already demonstrates a remarkable level of innovation.

We’ve experienced the AITO M7 first-hand before, when it was known as the SERES 7. In that review, we praised it for its power, fuel efficiency, comfort, and technology. This time, we’re taking a deeper look at five specific features that we believe highlight what makes this luxury crossover stand out.

AITO M7 Dashboard

In a car, the place where you spend most of your time is behind the wheel, and that’s why an intuitive dashboard makes all the difference in providing a great driving experience. In the AITO M7, all the essential information is displayed on both the 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and the large 15.6-inch infotainment screen.

AITO didn’t just slap on two big screens and call it a day, though. There are finer details designed to make driving easier and more enjoyable. The instrument cluster is complemented by a head-up display that projects navigation information, current speed, and the road’s speed limit onto the windshield — reducing the number of times you need to take your eyes off the road.

The infotainment screen serves as the vehicle’s command center, allowing drivers to configure and control every in-car feature. In addition, Over-the-Air (OTA) updates ensure the M7 stays current with the latest security enhancements, performance improvements, and ADAS software fixes.

AITO Gasoline Generator

Powering the AITO M7 is a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) supported by a gasoline engine that functions as a range extender, making the M7 a range-extended electric vehicle (RE-EV). This setup offers the best of both worlds, the instant power delivery of electric motors combined with the convenience of internal combustion.

According to AITO, the M7’s powertrain delivers impressive performance without compromising fuel efficiency. It can achieve a total driving range of over 1,000 km on a single fill-up, made possible by the combination of a 42 kWh battery that provides up to 200 km of pure electric range and a gasoline generator that extends the range by an additional 900 km.

ADAS

Tech isn’t only used to make life convenient in the M7, but also safer.  The M7’s structure is like a protective cocoon, crafted from 80.6% high-strength steel and aluminum alloy, with submarine-grade hot-formed steel reinforcing key areas of the cabin. Inside, eight airbags stand ready to cushion every passenger, while smart seat belts automatically tighten in an instant if a collision occurs, then gently ease pressure to prevent injury.

The M7’s battery system is equally impressive. Co-developed with industry leader CATL, it’s been put through more than 150 rigorous safety tests, everything from fire and puncture resistance to impact and water immersion. It even boasts an IPX8 waterproof rating, which means it can handle being submerged without any danger. A five-level safety management system constantly monitors for overheating, short circuits, or voltage issues, while the smart Battery Management System (BMS) keeps everything running smoothly behind the scenes.

On the road, AITO’s advanced driver-assistance suite brings peace of mind to every trip. Twenty active safety features, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Detection, and a Driver Monitoring System, work together like a silent co-pilot. Supported by 27 perception units, from LiDAR to radar and cameras, the system reads the road in all directions and reacts faster than any human could.

AITO M7 2nd Row Seats

Though the specs of the M7 reflect a tech-fest of a car, the interior hides the technology within a supple, relaxing cabin. The space feels spacious and airy, offering plenty of legroom, so much in fact, that even tall passengers will find it easy to stretch out. Thoughtful details, like hidden storage compartments and configurable seating, make the interior as practical as it is comfortable.

The second-row seats are where the M7 really shines. Built with 10-layer SURFLEX foam and a 3D Muller structure, they strike the perfect balance between softness and support. In the six-seater version, second-row passengers enjoy zero-gravity seats with an eight-point massage function, ventilation, heating, and even a leg rest that adjusts at a single touch. Long road trips suddenly sound a lot more appealing. Add in tri-zone climate control, with separate air-conditioning units for the front and rear, and everyone gets their own perfect temperature.

The overall design leans toward modern luxury. A wide panoramic sunroof fills the cabin with light, soft-close doors glide shut quietly, and electric running boards extend gracefully as you step in. All these features work together to make sure that just getting on feels like an occasion, and for a car that promises luxury, every little bit has to feel special, and the M7 does that excellently.

Suspension

The AITO M7’s suspension system plays a major role in delivering the smooth, balanced ride that defines this luxury crossover. It combines advanced engineering with intelligent technology to keep the cabin calm and composed, no matter what the road throws at it, and we can confirm that on our review.

Up front, the M7 uses an enhanced MacPherson strut suspension, known for its compact design and precise handling. It’s been fine-tuned by UK-based engineers from Bora to strike the right balance between agility and comfort. The setup includes upgraded bushings, a reinforced stabilizer bar, and optimized spring stiffness, which all work together to absorb bumps efficiently while maintaining sharp steering response.

At the rear, things get even more wild with an aluminum alloy H-arm multi-link independent suspension. According to AITO, this lightweight yet durable structure helps reduce vibration and noise while improving overall stability and comfort. What really sets the M7 apart, though, is its intelligent Continuous Damping Control (CDC) system combined with road preview technology. Cameras and LiDAR sensors constantly scan the road ahead, predicting upcoming bumps or dips. The CDC system then adjusts the damping force in real time, softening or firming up the suspension before the car even hits the uneven surface. It’s quite a complex system for the task, but this proactive response smooths out rough roads, minimizes body roll, and keeps passengers from feeling the impact of imperfections.

Altogether, the AITO M7’s suspension setup blends mechanical dampening techniques with computer-aided adaptability. It delivers a confident, composed ride, soft enough for comfort, yet firm and sharp enough to inspire driver confidence.

AITO M7 Front

The AITO M7 is more than just another entry in the crowded crossover segment; it’s a statement of what’s possible when automotive craftsmanship meets cutting-edge technology. From its refined suspension and luxurious cabin to its intelligent powertrain and safety systems, it showcases how far cars have come, and what a brand can do even in such a short time. If this is what AITO can achieve after only three years, it looks incredibly promising.
