Geely EX2

For the young Filipino professional grinding through Metro Manila's daily commute, the car equation usually comes down to the same variables: how much does it cost to run, will it survive EDSA traffic, is it going to embarrass me in front of friends or co-workers, and will it keep me safe when some jeepney decides to swerve without warning? Geely's new subcompact EV hatchback, the EX2, was built with exactly that kind of buyer in mind — someone who wants the lower running costs and quiet, modern feel of an EV without paying top money for it.

Officially launched in the Philippines back in June this year, the EX2 comes in two trims, Pro and Max, with prices starting at P938,000 up to P1,038,000. That places it squarely in competition with the BYD Dolphin, Chery QEV, GAC Aion UT, and the BYD Seagull — all vying for the same slice of the market: entry-level EV buyers who want something practical, tech-forward, and genuinely usable for city life. Here's a closer look at what the EX2 brings to the table across the categories that matter most to someone living the young-professional, metro-based lifestyle.

Geely EX2 Exterior

A single electric motor makes 114 hp and 150 Nm, driving the rear wheels — enough punch for confident EDSA merges, with zero to 50 km/h take care of in just 4.6 seconds. The 39.4 kWh CATL LFP battery, prized for durability over sheer capacity, is rated at 325 km (WLTP) to 395 km (NEDC), more than enough for a week of office commutes and weekend errands. DC fast charging takes the battery from 30 to 80 percent in about 25 minutes, while home AC charging takes roughly six and a half hours overnight. For a young professional who just wants to get things done and stay on the move, the EX2 boasts a combination of usable power and a decent amount of range to let them survive commuting inside Metro Manila.

Infotainment

Tech is another area where the EX2 fits the habits of a younger driver. At the center of the cabin is a 14.6-inch HD touchscreen running Geely's Flyme Auto intelligent cockpit system. It is complemented by an 8.8-inch LCD instrument cluster, giving the driver a dedicated display for important driving information.

Smartphone integration is also covered, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto available alongside smartphone screen mirroring and Bluetooth connectivity. There are also USB ports for front and rear passengers, while the vehicle's 4G connectivity and remote app functions add another layer of convenience.

The EX2 Max goes further with features such as remote vehicle control, online vehicle status monitoring, location tracking, and charging reservation. It also gets a 540-degree panoramic view camera, which can be particularly helpful when maneuvering around tight parking spaces.

For a young professional, these features are less about having technology for technology's sake and more about making everyday routines easier. Checking the car's status remotely, finding a parking space, connecting a phone, or getting a better view around the vehicle can all make a difference over the course of a hectic week.

Geely EX2 2nd Row

The car of the young professional doesn’t stop working after the nine-to-five shift; it also needs to ferry friends for nights out.  At 4,135 mm long on a 2,650 mm wheelbase, the EX2 makes smart use of its footprint. There's a 70-liter front trunk, a 10-liter passenger-side storage drawer, and 375 liters of rear cargo space, expanding to 1,320 liters with the 60:40 split rear seats folded. Vegan leather seats, a wrapped console, 256-color ambient lighting, and one-touch four-window operation come standard, while the Max adds a power-adjustable driver's seat and an optional two-tone Skyline White interior alongside the standard Horizon Gray. Enough space for a fun night out? Check. Space for luggage? Check. Quality materials and feel? A definite check.

Geely EX2 Euro NCAP

Safety is arguably one of the EX2's biggest talking points, particularly following its recent Euro NCAP assessment.

The Geely E2, which is marketed as the EX2 in the Philippines, received a five-star rating under the new 2026 Euro NCAP protocols. The assessment awarded it 79 percent for Safe Driving, 72 percent for Crash Avoidance, 86 percent for Crash Protection, and 95 percent for Post-Crash Safety. The rating applies to the right-hand-drive EX2 variants as listed by Euro NCAP.

The latest Euro NCAP protocol is also more demanding than previous assessments, covering the vehicle's performance across safe driving, crash avoidance, crash protection, and post-crash safety. The EX2 performed particularly well in areas such as occupant monitoring and post-crash protection.

Here in the Philippines, the EX2 Max gets a comprehensive suite of driver-assistance features, including automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane change assist, blind spot detection, rear cross traffic alert, rear collision warning, door open warning, intelligent high-beam control, front vehicle departure warning, and traffic sign recognition. A 540-degree panoramic camera also helps with low-speed maneuvering.

For young professionals, then, the EX2's appeal goes beyond being a relatively compact electric car. Its combination of manageable dimensions, useful range, practical storage, connected technology, and strong independent safety credentials gives it the ingredients of a sensible daily driver for life in the metro.

It may be small enough to make city driving less intimidating, but the EX2 isn't trying to be a bare-bones commuter. Instead, it takes the everyday hatchback formula and adds the convenience of electric power and a modern tech package, making it a compelling option for young drivers looking for their first EV.
