Ford Philippines

It looks like that we’re in for an exciting year as Ford Group Philippines (FGP) announced the introduction of new products, an improved after-sales program, and more dealerships nationwide.

In a press conference, leaders of the blue oval in the ASEAN region announced that FGP will be introducing several new cars throughout 2018 — seven to be exact. They also said that this will be mostly crossovers/SUVs/pickup trucks because of the growing market demand for these types of vehicles.

This means we won’t be seeing any new passenger cars such as the Fiesta, Focus, the GT sports car, or any of its electric vehicles (EV) in the Philippines soon (boo!).

Don’t get bummed just yet. Ford Asia Pacific President Peter Fleet said that if they see the opportunity to introduce more products locally, they will do so.

As of now, FGP’s list of new models to be launched this year will include the much-anticipated Ranger Raptor that will make its ASEAN debut tonight, February 7, 2018; the all-new aluminium body Expedition; the refreshed Explorer; and the Mustang Convertible.

Meanwhile, the EcoSport will finally get a major refresh after 4 years in the Philippine market. If the specs for its Asia-Pacific model will be followed, it will come with an eight-inch touchscreen head unit, 3 engine options, and a six-speed automatic transmission.

The Everest midsize SUV and the Ranger pickup truck will also get significant upgrades featuring a more fuel-efficient yet powerful engine. According to Ford, we can expect to see some of these models as soon as the first half of 2018.

On the other hand, the carmaker wants to spread its reach locally. As such, Ford aims to have a total of 51 dealerships across the country at the end of 2018. Construction has already begun for its showrooms in Clark, Pampanga, as well as in Manila and the Southern province.

Improving Ford’s after-sales program

FGP hopes to significantly reduce the cost of owning its vehicles and improve customer experience. With this, the brand is talking with its dealer partners on how to achieve this. FGP Managing Director Bertrand Lessard said that discussions are progressing well and that he will give us an update as soon as things are final.

This year certainly sounds exciting, especially if you’re eyeing a Ford vehicle. But for now, stay tuned as we bring you updates as they come.
