The Mitsubishi Mirage hatchback and the Mirage G4 are among the few models in the Philippines that have surpassed the 10-year mark. Despite its age, the Mirage remains a significant sales driver for the Japanese automaker.
Now, while that may seem absurd to a market that values the most modern features and latest innovations in vehicles, the Mirage G4 still ticks a lot of boxes that Filipinos appreciate, even if it’s not immediately obvious.
In this article, we’ll explore the qualities that allow Mitsubishi’s veteran fighter to keep trading punches with some of the more modern vehicles on the market.
A fuel-efficient and reliable engine

At the heart of the Mirage hatchback and the Mirage G4 is Mitsubishi’s 3A92 engine. This engine is a three-cylinder, naturally aspirated, gasoline mill that puts out 77 hp and 100 Nm of torque.
While it may not sound much on paper, the Mirage G4 weighs a shade below a ton, which means its three-cylinder mill won’t be lugging too much weight. Paired with Mitsubishi’s MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control) technology, the Mirage G4’s engine returns commendable fuel economy.
In a fuel economy test conducted by Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) in cooperation with the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP), the Mitsubishi Mirage G4 delivered an impressive 22.8 km/L. With this level of fuel efficiency, the Mirage G4 helps reduce fuel stops and lets you travel farther on every tank.
The simplicity of Mitsubishi’s engine also helps drivers save on maintenance costs. By using durable, simple components, the Mirage G4 can keep running reliably, as long as drivers stay on top of periodic maintenance.
Durable and simple interior
In the Philippines, many car buyers believe that a vehicle should be built to last, and that means its interior must be just as tough as its engine. While the Mitsubishi Mirage G4’s cabin doesn’t aim for luxury, it makes up for it with durability.

Designed for daily driving, the Mirage G4 features hard-wearing plastics and sturdy fabrics that help keep the interior looking clean and well-kept, even after years of use.
Clean and sporty design

Much like the interior, the Mirage G4 keeps it simple on the outside. Throughout its run, the Mirage G4 has been given several design updates to keep it fresh. Despite this, the core design elements of the Mirage remain the same, neat but with touches of sportiness.
With Mitsubishi’s recent update, the Mirage G4 receives several changes to its design. Mitsubishi equipped the Mirage G4 with LED lighting to enhance both form and function. The sedan now features LED projector headlights and LED taillights in its GLS and GLX trim, offering improved nighttime visibility while consuming less energy. Beyond performance, the new lighting setup adds a touch of sophistication and sportiness, giving the Mirage G4 a more dynamic presence on the road.
The LED headlights themselves boast a bolder, more modern design, while the LED taillights contribute to a sportier, more eye-catching rear profile, making the vehicle stand out from every angle.

The lights aren't the only part to get some TLC, the Mirage G4 also sports a new set of wheels. For 2026, the refreshed model rolls on 15-inch, two-tone, machine-finished alloy wheels, adding a stylish edge to its overall look.
A safer Mirage G4 for 2026

Beyond the updated styling, Mitsubishi has also enhanced the Mirage G4’s safety features across the entire lineup. For the 2026 model year, the sedan now comes equipped with hill-start assist (HSA) and active stability control (ASC) as standard. These additions give drivers greater confidence, especially when tackling steep inclines or navigating slippery roads, helping prevent rollback and maintain control.
The 2026 Mirage G4 is now officially on sale. If you're looking for a car that delivers reliability and fuel efficiency, the Mirage G4 is a smart choice. Explore more at AutoDeal.com.ph.
