More for less? What the Chery Tiggo Touring brings to the table

In order to get the most out of our money, we always weigh the cost of what we buy against the value it provides. This applies to everything—food, gadgets, services, and of course, automobiles. When purchasing a car, we consider everything it offers in relation to its price. To be truly value-packed, a vehicle must deliver a well-rounded experience without exceeding a reasonable budget.

For Chery, its contender in the value-for-money segment is the Tiggo Touring. The smallest in Chery’s Tiggo crossover lineup, it carries an affordable price tag paired with a feature set that belies its accessibility. For buyers looking to maximize their purchase, the Tiggo Touring may well be a crossover worth every cent.

Chery Tiggo Touring Engine

A value-packed car can’t be considered value-packed if you lose money each time you stop at the pumps. Luckily, the Tiggo Touring is powered by a frugal, naturally aspirated 1.5-liter gasoline engine.

This simple, no-nonsense engine develops 111 hp and 138 Nm of torque delivered to the front wheels via a five-speed manual transmission, or a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with nine simulated speeds. That amount of power is enough to haul a cabin full of passengers and luggage with ease. In addition, the simplicity of the engine makes it an easy car to maintain and take care of.

On the outside, the Tiggo Touring is equipped with halogen projector headlights paired with LED daytime running lights, and power-adjust side mirrors with integrated indicators. Inside, convenience features start with a 10.25-inch infotainment system that comes with Bluetooth, wireless Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay connectivity.

For the driver, they get analog gauges complemented by a 3.5-inch digital multi-information display. An intelligent remote key comes standard on the manual and automatic variants, as well as automatic climate control and multiple drive modes. Last but not least, Chery fits the Tiggo Touring with a wireless charger up front, a feature more commonly found on more expensive vehicles.

Chery Tiggo Touring Airbags

If you think that the Tiggo Touring skimped on safety features to accommodate more interior tech, think again. Standard features on the Tiggo Touring include disc brakes, ventilated up front, solids on the rear, an anti-lock braking system, electronic stability control, brake assist, hill-hold control, hill-descent control, and electronic brakeforce distribution.

The feature set doesn’t stop there; convenience features consist of a reverse camera with guidelines, a trio of parking sensors at the rear, central locking, an anti-theft system, an immobilizer, cruise control, and best of all, four airbags to keep all occupants safe.

We’ve listed the prices and repeatedly highlighted that the Chery Tiggo Touring is an affordable crossover, but just how affordable is it really? The Tiggo Touring starts at P698,000 for the five-speed manual variant and tops out at P818,000 for the CVT automatic. The only differences between the two variants are the transmission and a handful of exclusive features, such as drive modes, push-button start, and a wireless charger. Otherwise, all other features mentioned come standard across the Tiggo Touring range.

Taking its pricing into account, the Chery Tiggo Touring stands out as a genuinely value-packed crossover, offering more than its price tag suggests.
