Over the last few months, our stats show that the Chevrolet Trailblazer gained a few spots up from our Q1 report. There must be something in this midsize SUV that attracts the interest of the buyers, more specifically the 2.8 L AT 4x2 L variant – and that’s what we’re about to find out.
Its exterior has a muscular silhouette with its large hood, bulging headlights, and flarings. Up front, this American vehicle is donned with the brand’s trademark golden bowtie emblem in the middle of the chrome-lined grille, along with fog lamps at the flanks. It also has chromed side view mirrors, roof rails, side step board, and 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels that further boost its macho look.
The Trailblazer also has a high ground clearance of 230 mm along with a class leading 800 mm water wading depth - ideal for the flood-prone areas in the Philippines as well as for those who want to take the unpaved roads.
Inside, the Trailblazer can seat 7 occupants, including the driver. It can also hold around 1,830 L of cargo when the 2nd and 3rd row seats are folded down. This extra cargo space can be loaded with items like camping gears for the family or even a mountain bike for a weekend cycling trip with friends.
Its dashboard is curvy and well coordinated, inline with the other Chevy models in their lineup. The circular controls in the central panel can be accessed easily and user-friendly. Moreover, the central vents in the middle are huge enough to blow some air up to the 2nd row. Although, small vents are present on the roof so passengers are assured of comfort inside the car. As for interior amenities to keep passengers entertained, it comes standard with a stereo with tuner, MP3, CD playing capabilities through 6-speakers and can connect via Bluetooth.
Powering this variant of the Trailblazer is a 2.8L inline 4-cylinder diesel engine that generates 200 hp and a class-leading 500 Nm of torque. This is then paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission which drives the rear wheels. This helps the SUV tow up to 3 tons of weight which can come in handy if you need to pull a trailer for heavy loads.
It’s worth noting that the Trailblazer offers a handful of safety features so occupants can have peace of mind on the road. Aside from its dual front airbags, it also comes with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) and Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD).
The competitive price tag of P1,398,888, comfort features, and versatility are the highlights of this variant of the Trailblazer, which makes it a popular choice for SUV shoppers. In addition, it has plenty of power and torque under the hood and an array of safety features for better occupant protection.
