Which VinFast should I buy?

VinFast officially entered the Philippine market in May 2024. Since then, the Vietnamese carmaker has steadily grown its presence, rolling out a diverse lineup for Filipino buyers.

The expansion is no small feat. VinFast now offers five passenger vehicles locally, excluding fleet-focused models such as the Nerio Green, Limo Green, and Herio Green.

If you’ve been keeping an eye on the brand, here’s a quick guide to the current VinFast lineup in the Philippines.

We start with the smallest and cheapest VinFast you can buy, the VF3. The VF3 is a boxy city EV with the looks and feel of a mini off-roader. It’s powered by a 32 kW electric motor putting out 43 hp and 110 Nm of torque. Powering the rear-mounted motor is an 18.94kWh battery offering a driving range of up to 210 km on a full charge. Fast-charging allows the battery to go from 10 percent to 70 percent in just 36 minutes, making it a viable daily driver.

It’s a cute city EV measuring 3,190 mm long, 1,679 mm wide, and 1,622 mm tall. Unlike other EVs in its class, the VF3 features 16-inch alloy wheels, providing a compliant ride thanks to larger tires and high ground clearance. Specifically, the VF3 rides 191mm high off the ground, meaning it can take on the bumps and ruts of city streets and be able to ford a bit of floodwater.

The VF3 lineup starts at an affordable P590,000 if you opt to buy it with VinFast’s battery subscription program. If you want to buy the full package plus a splash of premium color, you’re looking at P755,000.

If you are looking to get into an electric vehicle without going full-size or full price, the VinFast VF5 is a good place to start. It sits above the VF3 in the lineup and is aimed squarely at first-time EV buyers who want something practical, modern, and easy to live with in daily city driving.

The VF5 is a compact electric crossover with a friendly design and just enough road presence to feel at home on urban streets. It is powered by a front-mounted electric motor producing 100 kW or 134 hp, along with 135 Nm of torque. Energy comes from a 37.23 kWh battery, which delivers a driving range of up to 326 km based on the NEDC standard. When it is time to plug in, DC fast charging can bring the battery from 10 percent to 70 percent in around 30 minutes, making it easy to top up between drives.

Size-wise, the VF5 has manageable dimensions. It measures 3,967 mm long, 1,723 mm wide, and 1,579 mm tall. Ground clearance is about 182 mm, which is helpful for dealing with uneven roads, ramps, and the occasional flooded street. It also rides on 17-inch alloy wheels, giving it some extra presence on the road.

Inside, the VF5 focuses on simplicity and tech. You get a clean dashboard layout, a central touchscreen that handles most vehicle functions, and a cabin designed to feel open despite the compact footprint.

As for the price, the VF5 lineup starts just below the P1 million mark at P949,000 if you get the VF5 with the battery subscription option. The VF5 Plus without the battery subscription option can be had for P1,099,000.

If you’re ready to step up from a tiny city EV and want something a bit more grown-up, the VinFast VF6 is worth checking out.

Under the skin, the VF6 uses a 59.6 kWh battery pack and a single front motor. There are two main versions to choose from. The Eco variant puts out 174 hp with 250 Nm of torque, and the Plus version cranks that up to 201 hp and 310 Nm. 

The Eco version can travel up to around 480 km on a full charge, while the Plus is close behind at around 460 km on the same standard. That means you can easily cover your daily commute and then some without worrying about charging. And when it is time to recharge, DC fast charging will bring the battery from about 10 percent to 70 percent in roughly 25 minutes, making charging stops fly by.

As for the looks, it’s styled with sharp lines, sleek LED lighting, and a confident stance. Inside is where the tech really shines. You get a huge 12.9-inch touchscreen, a head-up display that puts drive info right in your line of sight, and ventilated seats if you go for the VF6 Plus. The VF6 is also packed with safety gear. The Plus variant comes with eight airbags and a range of driver assistance tech that helps with highway driving and everyday traffic.

Pricing starts at around P1,249,000 for the base Eco with the battery subscription option and goes up to about P1,699,000 for the Plus.

All in all, the VF6 is a strong option if you’re after a stylish, practical, and tech-packed crossover that feels ready for daily life and weekend getaways alike. Even better, its combination of range, performance, and features makes it a solid choice for new EV buyers who want something modern and easy to live with.

Stepping up in size and in price, we have the VF7. It’s a compact five-seater crossover that’s ready to enter the premium territory. Powertrain options include a single-motor version that puts out 174 hp and 250 Nm of torque or a dual-motor AWD version that develops 349 hp and 500 Nm of torque. Battery sizes are dependent on the powertrain you choose. The single-motor variant has a 59.6 kWh battery, allowing it to get up to 498 km on a single charge. The more powerful dual motor variant gets a bigger 75.6 kWh battery, providing up to 496 km of range.

Inside, the VF7 feels roomy and modern with plenty of tech to keep you connected and comfortable. The cabin is designed with a big central touchscreen, thoughtful storage, and features that cater to everyday life, like adaptive safety systems and driver assists in higher variants. On the safety front, it comes equipped with a solid suite of active and passive features to help keep you and your passengers confident on the road. Pricing for the VF7 starts at P1,430,000 for the Eco variant with a battery subscription and up to P2,380,000 for the VF7 Plus, making it a compelling option if you want a stylish, tech-rich electric crossover without going into premium pricing territory.

Last but certainly not least, we reach the VF9, VinFast’s flagship EV. The VF9 is built for families and drivers who want all the space and capability of a full-size crossover with zero emissions and modern tech. It measures 5,140 mm in length, 1,995 mm in width, and 1,740 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,200 mm, providing seating for six passengers and a sizable cargo area.

Under the hood, you’ll find a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup that produces 402 hp and 620 Nm of torque, so it feels confident when you’re merging on highways or cruising at speed. A large 123 kWh battery gives it one of the longest ranges in its class, and depending on conditions, it’s capable of going 602 km on a single charge. Fast charging also means you can top up from around ten percent to seventy percent in 25 minutes, which helps keep longer trips manageable.

Inside, the VF9 leans into tech and comfort with a big 15.6-inch touchscreen, premium materials, and plenty of creature comforts to make long drives enjoyable. Safety features and driver assist tech are also part of the package, helping you stay confident behind the wheel. The VF9 starts at P3,845,000 for the battery subscription variant and tops out at P5,390,000.
