The Covenant Car Company, Inc. (TCCCI), the exclusive importer and distributor of Chevrolet vehicles in the Philippines, announced that the 2017 Trailblazer is now officially available in the country. With its new challenger, Chevrolet PH looks to shake up the local SUV segment.
Set to rival the likes of the Ford Everest, Mitsubishi Montero Sport, Isuzu mu-X and Toyota Fortuner, the 2017 Trailblazer comes with a restyled fascia and a refreshed interior.
The exterior of the new Trailblazer looks more angular as compared to its predecessor. Up front, it has sharp-looking headlights with daytime running lights, a wider dual-port grille, and a more aggressive bumper. The top-of-the-line Trailblazer is finished off with 18-inch gunmetal wheels which adds to the SUV’s bold and composed stance.
Inside, Chevy’s challenger in the local SUV segment features a redesigned dashboard and a new center console. Speaking of the latter, the large circular knob responsible for climate control has been removed. It is replaced with two small round knobs and various buttons for different air conditioning modes. Moreover, soft-touch materials as well as silver trims are integrated to the Trailblazer’s interior.
In terms of tech, the Trailblazer is equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment that features Bluetooth connectivity, smartphone compatibility, Siri Eyes Free, and voice recognition software. Aside from that, it has a Remote Engine Start system which allows you to start the Trailblazer’s power unit before you enter the vehicle.
Safety-wise, Chevrolet said that the new Trailblazer comes with a number of features such as: Traction Control System (TCS), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Panic Brake Assist (PBA), Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Descent Control (HDC), Hill Start Assist (HAS), driver and passenger airbags, among others.
The 2017 Trailblazer is still powered either by 2.8L Duramax or 2.5L diesel engines. The former delivers 200 hp and 500 Nm of torque, while the latter produces 163 hp and 380 Nm. The 2.5L variant is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission while the 2.8L models are connected to a 6-speed automatic.
The new Trailblazer comes in 7 exterior paint options: Pull Me Over Red, Summit White, Satin Steel Grey, Black Meet Kettle, Mountain Blue, Auburn Brown, and Switchblade Silver.
It is available in 3 variants: 2.8L Z71 AT (P 1,881,888), 2.8L LT AT (P 1,509,888), and 2.5L LT MT (P 1,378,888).
On the other hand, you can test drive the new Trailblazer at Chevrolet’s 2016 Motorama event which will be held in several malls. Check out the table below for the complete schedule of this year’s Motorama event.
