Honda didn’t wait too long before they give the latest in connectivity to the award-winning model, the Pilot. Just less than a year after its global launch, the 3rd generation premium crossover’s head unit is set to receive Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Currently, the Honda Pilot is equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen display audio with Bluetooth, HDMI Port, 2 USB Ports, iPod & iPhone Connectivity, Wifi connectivity, CD/DVD, Aux-in, and AM/FM.
The head unit will be upgraded in 2017 with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto – the latest technology in connectivity, which allows you to pair your smartphone with the multimedia system on board. This enables handsfree commands and control over the unit, ensuring that the driver’s attention is on the road. Moreover, the improved head unit will also have a new fingerprint- and glare-resistant coating.
The 3rd generation Pilot, which was locally launched early this year, is one of the Japanese marque’s jewel for its wide-range of high-technology and safety features. This made it receive a list of international accolades, including the Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety (IIHS).
On the other hand, global variants with Honda SENSING technology received a Superior rating for crash avoidance and mitigation from IIHS – the highest possible from the US nonprofit organization.
Fortunately, the locally sold EX-L variant of the Honda Pilot is equipped with Honda SENSING technology. This includes Active Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM), Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), and Forward Collision Warning (FCW).
Just like the 2016 model, the 2017 Pilot will still be American made, which is one of the things that made us admire the premium 8-seater. Although the price for the American market increased slightly with this update, we have yet to hear from Honda Philippines if they will increase its current P3,380,000 price tag here – that’s if they will bring the upgraded version into their showrooms.
