The 2017 Lexus IS made its Philippine debut months after its global reveal last April at the Beijing International Auto Exhibition. The new IS comes with an updated exterior, as well as a revamped interior but still maintains its signature aggressive, sleek look.
The IS gets a new bumper with larger air intakes, a restyled spindle grille, and a slightly redesigned headlights. Adding to the overall aggressive demeanor of the car is the L-shaped daytime running lights. On the other hand, the IS F-Sport variant is fitted with a 3-dimensional jet-black mesh grille.
The rear has sharp-looking L-shaped LED taillights, rectangular chrome exhaust pipes, and a set of 10-spoke 17-inch wheels. Moreover, Lexus added 2 new exterior paint options for the IS – Deep Blue Mica and Black Glass Flake.
Inside, it gets a 10.3-inch infotainment system (IS 350 F-Sport variant), a 3-spoke steering wheel with multi-function controls, and a redesigned instrument cluster. In addition, the IS’s interior has a new color theme, Chateau. Lexus said that Chateau features a light shade that melds the elegance of Ivory with a contemporary light-grey tincture.
Safety-wise, the IS is equipped with anti-lock brake system (ABS), hill start assist, vehicle stability control, traction control, airbags, among others.
The 2017 IS is powered by a 3.5L engine that delivers 312 hp and 378 Nm of torque. It is then mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
The IS comes in 2 variants: the IS 350 and the IS 350 F-Sport. The former is priced at P2,668,000 while the latter gets a price tag of P3,198,000.
