The first batch of the diesel-powered Honda CR-V has arrived in the Philippine shores with deliveries starting promptly.
Introduced in the local market in 1996, it is only now on its 5th generation that we get to see a diesel CR-V in Asia. Aside from this, the Japanese crossover is also said to be the first entry of Honda in the growing segment of diesel SUV
As a review, the 7-seater diesel CR-V bears a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder i-DTEC turbodiesel engine. It is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission – a distant relative of the former 5-speed automatic. With all this laid out, the vehicle can spur out 160 hp and 350 Nm of torque.
On the safety aspect, the 2018 CR-V diesel variant is integrated with ‘Honda Sensing.’ Of note, it's jampacked with a number of safety features including the Agile Handling Assist (AHA), Hill-Start Assist, a set of airbags (dual front, side, and curtain), among others. Meanwhile, comfort is topped off with 8-way power adjustable seats with 4-way lumbar support and a dual automatic air conditioning system.
The 2018 CR-V is available with 6 color options. All variants get the Dark Olive Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl, and the P20,000-worth White Orchid Pearl. The SX Diesel 9AT AWD and S Diesel 9AT, on the other hand, is also available with Passion Red Pearl and Lunar Silver Metallic.
Price starts at P1,569,000 for the lower V Diesel 9AT variant, P1,759,000 for the mid S Diesel 9AT variant, going to P2,049,000 price tag for the top-of-the-line SX Diesel 9AT. Moreover, the 2018 CR-V is still available with a gasoline 2.0 S CVT variant, which retails at P1,539,000.
