
The 2018 World Car Awards (WCA) kicks of its countdown with the list of the finalists from 6 categories. Finalists from the 2018 World Car of the Year, World Luxury Car, World Performance Car, World Green Car, World Car Design of the Year, and the World Urban Car titles will continue their journey to Geneva on March 6, 2018.
This year's World Car of the Year winner will be chosen from the 10 selected models. The vehicles that made it to the top 10 are:
- Alfa Romeo Giulia
- BMW X3
- Kia Stinger
- Land Rover Discovery
- Mazda CX-5
- Nissan LEAF
- Range Rover Velar
- Toyota Camry
- Volkswagen T-Roc
- Volvo XC60
For the 2018 World Urban Car, the winner will be selected from these 5 finalists:
- Ford Fiesta
- Hyundai Kona
- Nissan Micra
- Suzuki Swift
- Volkswagen Polo
Judges will then pick this year's World Luxury Car from 5 battling nameplates:
- Audi A8
- BMW 6 Series Gran Turismo
- Lexus LS
- Porsche Cayenne
- Porsche Panamera
It's a tight competition for the 2018 World Performance Car, as these 5 duke it out:
- Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio
- Audi RS 3 Sedan
- BMW M5
- Honda Civic Type R
- Lexus LC 500
On the other hand, the top spot for the 2018 World Green Car will be claimed by one of these 4 finalists:
- BMW 530e iPerformance
- Chevrolet Cruze Diesel
- Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid
- Nissan LEAF

Lastly, the 2018 World Car Design of the Year will be strictly judged by 7 well-respected design experts from France, UK, Germany, US, and Japan. The cars that will stand before the eyes of these judges can also be any car that is competing in the aforementioned categories. However, the 5 finalists that were chosen by the design panel are:
- Citroen C3 Aircross
- Lexus LC 500
- Range Rover VELAR
- Renault Alpine A110
- Volvo XC60
The top 3 finalists will be announced once the Road to the World Car reaches the Geneva International Auto Show. The final awarding day will then be hosted by the New York International Auto Show on March 28, 2017. The World Car Awards is now on its 5th consecutive year, retaining its title as the top automotive award-giving program in the planet based on media reach.
