Ford has unveiled their latest iteration of the wildly popular EcoSport. The new Ford EcoSport not only features a new design, new technology, but more importantly, a new engine choice, courtesy of EcoBoost. It’s come a long way since 2014, and we’re liking it a lot.
The 2019 Ford Ecosport now offers the 1.0L turbocharged EcoBoost engine, good for 125 hp, together with a more powerful 1.5L power plant rated at 123 hp mated to manual and six speed automatic transmission choices. Interestingly, the EcoBoost engine is only available in the Titanium trim level.
Right away, the most evident change to the 2019 EcoSport is a heavily redesigned front fascia. A new grille and tweaked headlights don the face, with an LED running light and projector headlamps. The fog lights are raised a bit on the bumper, together with new touches for the plastic wraparound moulding. The hood has also been redesigned, and new wheel designs complete the refresh.
More toys come in thanks to the latest version of Ford’s infotainment system, Sync 3. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are now standard for the first time with the EcoSport, and a bigger eight inch screen also displays the feed from the reverse camera. There’s also navigation and a seven speaker audio system for the Titanium variant. The interior also features more storage compartments and redesigned surfaces and knobs. It’s a more attractive layout, with the bigger screen taking up most of the center console.
Hill start assist, electronic brake force distribution, and electronic stability program come in all variants across the board. Auto start stop and six airbags are also available only on the Titanium model. There’s also rain sensing wipers, automatic headlights, and keyless entry. Nifty.
The 2019 Ford EcoSport is available at all dealers nationwide starting August 30, 2018. There are six colors - Absolute Black, Ingot Silver, Crystal White, Ruby Red, Canyon Ridge, and Blue Lightning.
Prices are as follows:
1.0L EcoBoost Titanium AT - P1,168,000
1.5L Trend AT - P1,028,000
1.5L Trend MT - P968,000
1.5L Ambiente MT - P918,000
