Confidence-inspiring SUV – three words from Volvo to describe its new 2019 XC40. Volvo Cars, the Swedish premium carmaker, has released its small crossover that is designed for city living.
With the XC40’s release, the model is expected to tackle the daily challenges of modern city life. Customers of the model will receive award-winning safety, connectivity, and infotainment features that can be found in Volvo’s XC60 and XC90 series of SUVs such as the Sensus infotainment system. With these features, the model is expected to make the daily commute of its drivers less stressful and more enjoyable.
The XC40 is our first car in this rapidly growing segment and has a clear focus on navigating today’s hectic city environments. Building on Volvo’s heritage as the leader in safety, the new XC40 will offer the best possible safety standards combined with an easy-to-use interface and convenient connected services.
The 2019 XC40 is based on Volvo’s new Compact Modular Architecture (CMA), coupled with a slew or groundbreaking technologies from the larger models.
The notable safety and driver assistance features offered in the XC40 are as follows:
- Run-off Road Protection & Mitigation
- Cross Traffic Alert With Auto Brake
- 360-Degree Camera

It features a large touchscreen to display content and information, while boasting advanced connectivity features to link the car to the user’s smartphone.
We built a confident, easy-to-use, and convenient everyday user experience based on real-life interaction and research, starting from our foundation of leading safety. The XC40 is a car for a generation of consumers that expect full connectivity. All screens have been optimized for a safe, easy, and efficient interaction, to support active city driving.
