The 10th-generation Honda Accord is now one of the safest vehicles in Honda’s lineup and on the road. The midsize sedan scored a 5-star rating in a crash test conducted by the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asia (ASEAN NCAP). It scored an overall score of 91.79 out of 100. Included in the scoring was a frontal-offset impact test, side-impact test, and evaluation of safety features. This outstanding result emphasizes Honda’s commitment to ensuring a high level of safety for everyone.
The Accord is one of Honda’s 10 vehicles in its lineup to receive a 5-star rating via NCAP testing. The first vehicle to get it was the 2012 City, which was followed by the 2013 Civic. Honda has consistently been getting high marks for safety with its vehicles. Prior to the Accord the current-generation Honda Civic also got a 5-star rating.
For scoring the ASEAN NCAP values adult protection at 50 percent of the score, child protection at 25 percent, and safety technology at 25 percent. The Accord scored well in terms of Adult Occupant protection. It garnered a score of 49.07/50. It also scored well in terms of Child Occupant Protection, and safety assists technologies. It scored a 23.28/25 and 19.44/25, respectively. These break down the scoring of the ASEAN NCAP.
The all-new 2020 Honda Accord is equipped with Honda Sensing technology, a suite of features that include an advanced driving assist system, supporting the driver to avoid a collision or mitigate the impact if one occurs. Other safety features that helped give the Accord a high score is the inclusion of Parking Assist, Multi-view camera, and Cross-traffic monitor.
The midsize sedan also features an Advanced Compatibility Engineering body structure which lets the vehicle retain a lightweight design while being safe. The Accord also has a full range of active and passive safety technologies such as six airbags, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA), Hill Start Assist (HSA), Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), Multi-angle Rearview Camera, Electric Parking Brake (EPB), Automatic Brake Hold, and Honda LaneWatch. All of which makes the vehicle safer and easier to drive.
