Ford Europe has announced that it will be adding a new variant of the Ford Ecosport to its regional lineup. Dubbed the Ecosport Active, the new compact crossover will bring with it raised ground clearance as well as updates to its exterior and interior design. It will also be joining in its other “Active” stablemate models that also feature an increased ride height and a more rugged look. The move to bring in a new and more rugged version of the Ecosport was due to an increased demand for the European market that can do light off-road work. It will make its official debut for the European market on November 6, 2020.
Customers tell us they love how EcoSport’s bold styling, practical interior, and versatility fits into their busy lives, so we’re excited to enhance the SUV with an Active version that delivers even more of those qualities
He continues by stating that “The EcoSport Active offers the extra capability and rugged style for customers who want to take their outdoor adventures to the next level.” It is important to note that while the popular crossover will come with a raised ground clearance, don’t expect it to have the same performance as its more capable off-road brothers the Ford Ranger and Ford Bronco.
The specifications of the new variant of the 2021 Ford Ecosport Active are still unclear, however, we expect it to have the same kit as the standard model. We also expect it to come with new body cladding as well as with a new set of wheels to match the look. While there is no official word yet if Ford Philippines plans to bring it into the country, it could be a popular variant for those looking for a crossover with a bit more ground clearance.
