The all-new 2021 Ford F-150 Raptor finally breaks cover, and the full-size pickup truck benefits from a number of technological and performance upgrades that boosts its off-road capability.
Spy shots have been floating over the past months, and teaser materials have started to appear a few weeks back, but now it’s finally official. Like its previous generations, the current Raptor does distinguish itself from a standard F-150, given the rich application of special details both inside and out.
The 2021 F-150 Raptor is based on the full-size pickup’s Supercrew short-bed configuration. For the exterior, it still features some familiar angles from the standard model, however, it does get some exclusive finishes like the blackout ‘Ford’ script grille, a more-bulged hood, special panels like its fender flares and chunky extensions, and a wider bed. The Raptor sits on a set of 17-inch rims wrapped in 35-inch BF Goodrich tires and is accompanied by more ground clearance, therefore, allowing it to have a taller ride height.
Inside, the cabin does carry a lot of tech goodies. One of the main highlights include the humongous 12-inch infotainment system that now comes SYNC 4. It also has an 18-speaker B&O unleashed sound system and comes ready with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other essential features include a 360-degree camera and a 12-inch gauge cluster.
Ford claims that this is, by far, the most off-road capable F-150 Raptor. Their statement is motivated by its re-engineered front suspension and redesigned rear axle. Plus, it also comes with extra-long trailing arms, a Panhard rod, and dampers in courtesy of Fox. Under the hood, is a 3.5-liter V6 EcoBoost engine that churns out 380 hp and 637 Nm of torque, the following figures are quite smaller when compared to its predecessor, then again it’s more than enough for its size. Like the Ranger Raptor, its bigger brother also is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
All these mechanical components make this full-size pickup the ultimate off-road machine, not to mention, it's got a Terrain Management System which maximizes its overall capability. That said, this all-new model shall continue the great legacy of its predecessors.
