The all-new 2021 Kia Sorento exhibits better aesthetics, a more refined cabin, and a range of engines including its new Hybrid powertrain. After the fourth-generation model being unveiled last February this year, the all-new Sorento will soon be offered to the US market, along with a special X-Line variant.
Locally speaking, this trim may be unknown, but in other select markets, the X-Line is also made available on the smaller Seltos and Rio. In fact, apart from the Sorento, there are also probable chances that Kia Telluride X-Line could be on its way as based on a leaked internal survey. It may seem that this special trim adds a number of rugged parts to the vehicle in order to make the vehicle more adventure-oriented.
Apart from the teaser photo which showcases its X-Line badging, here we have a grainy glimpse of the Sorento X-Line’s side profile. By the looks of it, this special edition model gets blacked-out wheels and a different pair of roof rails which does heighten the adventurous-vibes of this midsize crossover. I guess that’s about it for now, further exterior and interior details should be uncovered during its proper launch.
While the US market does have strict protocols when it comes to diesel engines, buyers might therefore be given a choice of two distinct power plants. First is a 2.5-liter gasoline engine that’s capable of producing 277 hp and 421 Nm of torque. This mill is then paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The US market might also get the evolutionary hybrid powertrain, combining a turbocharged 1.6-liter gasoline engine and a 44-kW electric motor. That fusion equates a total output of 227 hp and 350 Nm. It is then mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Its North American debut is slated on September 22. With the Sorento slowly invading other markets, we do hope that the all-new midsize crossover will soon reach other ASEAN countries as well, including the Philippines.
