Mitsubishi's popular MPV is getting a mid-cycle update. Amid rumors and leaked photos, we now have some sort of confirmation that the new Xpander is hitting the market soon.
Fans of the vehicle will be happy to know that Mitsubishi Motors Indonesia has posted a teaser photo for the new model on its Facebook page. The image shows a silhouette of the 2022 Xpander, highlighting the MPV's signature Dynamic Shield front-end and what appears to be a new set of headlights.
The new Xpander was recently spotted in Indonesia. Apart from the slimmer T-shaped headlights, there could be other changes in store for the facelifted model. According to some reports, the MPV could get a redesigned grille, new two-tone alloy wheels, and a new bumper.

Other than that, there's not much else to see in terms of exterior changes. Mitsubishi could surprise us with a few tricks, plus the interior features could also get updates.
As for the release date, nothing is confirmed. The Indonesian launch will probably happen before the end of the year, perhaps as early as this month. A Philippine release is highly likely due to the model's local popularity, but it may not be anytime soon. When the vehicle does arrive, it could sell extremely well given the current model's market dominance.
For now, the 2021 Mitsubishi Xpander and Xpander Cross are still available. Both are powered by a 1.5-liter, four-cylinder, DOHC gasoline engine that delivers 103 hp and 101 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic on the Xpander, while only the 4-speed AT gearbox is available on the Xpander Cross.
