The new 2022 Suzuki Celerio has just launched in India with a new design, a host of new features as well as a new transmission option. The new hatchback promises to bring freshness to the entry-level hatchback segment, as it now comes with new first-in-segment safety and convenience technologies.
The 2022 Celerio now comes with a more striking and dynamic stance thanks to its new front fascia that is similar to its sedan sibling the Suzuki Dzire. It gets sweeping headlights, droplet-style taillights, and a new signature grille. On top of that, you also get front fog lamps, a new set of turn signal indicators, and a new set of black 15-inch alloy wheels further giving the hatchback a more youthful and more crossover-like appeal.

On the inside, the new Suzuki Celerio continues with its new 3D organic sculpted design. It still retains a compact yet modern dashboard with twin-slot center AC vents that come with chrome accents. A bit of sportiness has also been injected with the addition of barrel-type side air vents. As this new model ditches the old CVT in favor of an AGS transmission, it now comes with a new gear shift lever design for variants equipped with the AGS gearbox. In terms of technology, the new Celerio also receives a push start system, a 7-inch infotainment system, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, and 60/40 split-folding rear seats.
As this is a new model, the 2022 Suzuki Celerio now rides on the brand’s HEARTECT platform. This gives the hatchback bigger shoulder and legroom as well as better luggage space at the rear. Powering, the new hatchback is Suzuki’s 1.0-liter K10C with Dual Jet Technology, which produces 66 hp and 89 Nm of torque. While these figures are slightly lower compared to its older model, it comes with new technology to make the vehicle even more fuel-efficient. Transmission options for the Celerio are either a 5-speed manual or an Auto Gear Shift (AGS) Transmission.
Suzuki Philippines has yet to make an official announcement as to when it plans to bring the new Celerio into the country. However, we suspect it could make its way into the local automotive country sometime in 2022 as the current model locally available is already a veteran of the segment.
