For quite some time now, Chevrolet has been sowing the seeds of its brand new Tahoe in mass media, and fans of the model or would-be wanters of the SUV don’t have to wait long or at all since it is now currently available in the country and waiting for eager buyers at showrooms nationwide.
The Covenant Car Company Inc. (TCCCI), is the official distributor of the Golden Bowtie in the Philippines. In its latest press release, TCCCI detailed the availability and the specifications of its latest full-size SUV. The Tahoe is a now iconic nameplate, getting its start back in 1995 when Chevrolet wanted to bring to market an SUV that had all the capabilities of a truck, but with premium amenities fit for any family, and also a capable chassis to handle off-road trails and tracks with ease. The model is marked as one of the U.S.’s best-selling nameplates for two decades now, and it’s also a notable fixture in popular Hollywood movies and more.
Poised to be a capable hauler, tower, or just an all-around SUV, the iconic SUV spares no expense to bring a remarkable experience to its owners with uncompromised power, cargo space, and superior comfort.
The exterior of the Tahoe is modern and evolved from its previous incarnations. Over the years, it’s gained a remarkable amount of bulk and muscle, a look that’s rather unique to the Golden Bowtie’s SUV and full-size pickup truck offerings. The presence is undeniable but that’s not the only thing it has going for it. The Tahoe is also a modern marvel of functional design with its LED daytime running lights paired with the Intellibeam Headlamps. Other notable design features Chevrolet Philippines also listed include a generous approach angle with a matching skid plate. Following that, the Tahoe is also equipped with roof rack side rails that allow the SUV to accommodate all manner of outdoor accessories and products.
For its hardware, the Tahoe rolls on 20-inch machined aluminum wheels for the standard Z71 variant and 22s for the High Country. The wheels are connected to a 10-speed automatic transmission that promises robust and reliable performance even under duress, and that is paired with a powerful V8 engine that is the most advanced in the nameplate’s history so far. The V8 is a 5.3-liter Eco-Tec engine that produces 355 hp and 518 Nm of torque and it boasts a ton of capability to haul tons, carry tons, and have tons of fun while driving. The great drive is matched by a great ride, brought on by a set of Magnetic Ride Control and Adaptive Air Ride Suspension systems that dial in the comfort, the steering responsiveness, and the overall driver control for the Tahoe.
The Tahoe is a large SUV, there is no mistaking that, and the brand boasts of its larger dimensions coming into this generation of the nameplate. The current model is 125mm longer in its wheelbase and 169mm longer overall, allowing for more legroom, 66 percent greater cargo volume behind the third row, and a 30 percent increase in maximum cargo for the rear.
Tech features inside the Tahoe are also top-notch, and the SUV gets a full suite of connectivity features for the 10.2-inch Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system. Wireless Apple CarPlay is standard and as well as Android Auto. Greeting the driver when the car starts up is a 15-inch heads-up display and greeting the rear passengers is a set of 12.6-inch LCD touchscreens for both the second and third rows (High Country variant only). These screens can be independent of one another or are able to beam content to the main infotainment unit in the front such as navigation information. These screens can also share content from one screen to the other to let everyone join in on the fun, or can also mirror the screen of an Android phone. Audio plays through a 10-speaker Bose system, and a first-class experience is guaranteed with the inclusion of 10-way power with lumbar adjust driver and front passenger seats, power-folding rear seats, and tri-zone automatic climate control. Inductive wireless charging is also available in the Tahoe for a hassle-free experience.
Safety is also a consideration in the Tahoe as it comes with up to seven SRS airbags, Forward Collision Alert, Front, and Rear Pedestrian Alert, Following Distance Indicator, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, Automatic Emergency Braking, Rear Park Assist Sensors with Camera, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Traction Control System, Electronic Stability Control, Hill Start Assist, and Hill Descent. On top of all of those features, the model also comes with a 360-degree Surround Vision camera system for easy parking and maneuvering through tight spots.
The Tahoe will be available in Chevrolet showrooms right away, nationwide. The 2023 year model appears to be the one to get for the nameplate, and Chevrolet Philippines assures interested customers that the model will be available, bundled in with a five-year warranty, and covered by Chevrolet’s Complete Care programs. The price of the Chevrolet Tahoe starts at P7,702,888 for the Z71 variant, and the High Country variant goes for P8,692,888.
