Ford Motor Company knows that the F-150 is one of its best sellers. With that in mind, the Blue Oval has added yet another model of the pickup truck to further expand its portfolio to cater to a much wider audience. While Ford already offers the Tremor and Raptor packages for the F-150, they are priced towards the more expensive of the spectrum. With that in mind, the American automaker has decided to add a new model in the form of the F-150 Rattler which is the brand’s new budget off-road-ready trim.
Exterior

What the Rattler offers are a few bits and bobs from the FX4 package. These come in the form of skid plates, an electronic locking rear differential, hill descent control, and off-road-oriented shock absorbers to tackle rougher roads. Aside from this, the Blue Oval has also equipped the vehicle with all-terrain tires as standard to further complement its suite of off-road-ready features.
Interior

On the inside, the Rattler sets itself apart from the rest of the F-150 lineup by getting bronze accents for its upholstery along with stitching on its instrument panel. The rest of its cabin remains similar to that of the XL model with a black and dark color motif. Despite it being the entry-level off-roader, the interior accents help give the vehicle a more upscale look over its more utilitarian-focused stablemates.
Engine

The engine options for the Rattler have yet to be disclosed by Ford. However, we speculate that it could come with the 2.7-liter V6 engine that is available with the FX4 package. If this holds to be true then this budget off-roader should make about 325hp and 542 Nm of torque. Another possible option for the Rattler is the 5.0-liter V8 that produces around 400hp and 555 Nm of torque. As for transmission options, the 10-speed automatic gearbox could be the likely choice.
