Ford Philippines recently launched it this year with a changed model lineup that revamped the pickup truck to have more features and new power under the hood. Over in other markets such as Europe, the pickup truck’s model lineup has been expanded further to include a new variant. The Ford Ranger Platinum will now be the new top trim and will be positioned as the most luxurious Ranger ever made.
This version of the pickup truck now packs a strong V6 turbo diesel engine and comes with an exclusive appearance. The new variant will be positioned above the Wiltrak model and just below the Raptor.
Ford is pulling out all the stops with this new variant of Ranger emphasizing its V6 diesel powerplant as one of its most defining features. It produces 247 hp and 600 Nm of torque which then sends power to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission. To add to this Ford has given the Ranger Platinum a new electronically controlled full-time all-wheel drive system as well. To further bring home that this is no ordinary Ranger, the Blue Oval has also given it special transmission mounts that are designed to reduce noise and vibration. Ford says that these mounts give the Ranger Platinum more refined and responsive performance regardless of the conditions.
In terms of its exterior design, the Ranger Platinum still carries the same look as the rest of its Ranger siblings. However, it does come with special 20-inch machined-faced wheels, a more distinctive radiator grille, and new signature daytime running LEDs. The DRLs are integrated within the matrix LED headlight clusters, which are standard for the new trim, as also are the soft-close tailgate, privacy glass, and leather seat upholstery. The highlights inside the cabin include 10-way electrically operated seats with heating and cooling functions, as well as new more sophisticated ambient interior lighting.
