A few months ago Hyundai launched a seven-seater MPV for the Indonesia market, now, however, it seems that the South Korean automaker has set its sights on the Philippine market, as it announced that it will be bringing in the Hyundai Stargazer sometime soon. The Hyundai MPV will go up against the likes of the Suzuki Ertiga, Toyota Avanza, and the Mitsubishi Xpander in terms of specs and pricing.
The arrival of the Stargazer was confirmed by Hyundai Philippines when it formally launched its new lineup of vehicles which consists of the Hyundai Creta, new Tucson, new Santa Fe, and the all-new Hyundai Staria. They did not mention any exact dates only a vague timeline which will supposedly see the MPV enter the local market along with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV sometime before the end of the year.
The official specifications for the MPV have not been released, however, we suspect it will have similar specs to the Indonesian market version. For starters, it will likely come with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine that will make around 113hp and 144 Nm of torque similar to what is currently powering the Creta. Next, it will also likely come with either a six-speed manual or an Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT).
In terms of dimensions, the Stargazer measures 4460mm long, 1780mm wide, and 1690mm tall. It also has a generous 2780mm wheelbase which makes for a very spacious cabin. Cargo space for the Stargazer comes in at 585 liters with the third-row folded. However, with the third-row seats deployed, that goes down to just 200 liters.
For its features, while not yet confirmed, we suspect it will come with an 8-inch infotainment system that will support Apple Carplay and Android Auto and it will also likely come with a wireless charger which we have seen as a standard feature for most of the top-of-the-line models that Hyundai has launched recently.
That being said, it is now a waiting game to see what Hyundai Philippines has in store for the upcoming Stargazer MPV. Do stay tuned to our website for the latest updates, deals, and promos that Hyundai Philippines has to offer.
