BMW M2

BMW Philippines has introduced the second-generation M2, a compact high-performance sports car that pays homage to the iconic BMW 2002 turbo. This new M2 promises an unparalleled driving experience within its price range and looks to continue the success of the past model.

The M2 exhibits a striking design with a large, frameless BMW kidney grille featuring horizontal bars and a three-section lower air intake characterized by nearly rectangular contours. Its clean surfaces, prominently flared side skirts, and muscular wheel arches contribute to its athletic appearance. The rear end boasts a sleek lip spoiler, an integrated rear diffuser insert, and two pairs of exhaust pipes, which are set inward. The vehicle's stance is enhanced by mixed wheels, with 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the back. Additionally, the BMW M2 Carbon variant boasts a carbon fiber roof that reduces the overall weight by six kilograms.

BMW M2 engine

Under the hood of the BMW M2 resides a 3.0-liter inline-6 engine equipped with TwinPower Turbo technology. This powerplant delivers an impressive 460 hp and 550 Nm of torque. An M-specific exhaust system with electrically controlled flaps ensures a rich and emotional soundtrack. The vehicle's oil and cooling systems have also been fine-tuned to excel during track use.

The power generated by the engine is transmitted to the rear wheels through an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission. This transmission offers various features, including the ability to execute multiple downshifts for improved responsiveness. The Drivelogic function provides three shift settings, while the M Traction Control offers ten stages of wheel slip limitation. The Active M Differential can send up to 100 percent of power to either the left or right wheel as needed.

Performance-wise, both the M2 Pure and M2 Carbon accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.3 seconds. The M2 Pure has a top speed of 250 km/h, while the M2 Carbon can reach 290 km/h thanks to the standard M Driver’s Package.

The M2 also features an adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled dampers, variable-ratio steering, and six-piston front brakes with M Compound brakes. The integrated braking system allows drivers to choose between two pedal feel settings.

Inside the M2's driver-centric cabin, you'll find the BMW Widescreen Display, consisting of a 12.3-inch screen with a unique graphical layout for the driver and a 14.9-inch center screen controlling the latest-generation BMW iDrive. The cabin offers a three-zone climate control system and ambient lighting. The M2 Carbon variant includes a Harman Kardon surround sound system.

Both the driver and front passenger enjoy sports seats with Sensatec/Alcantara surfaces in the BMW M2 Pure. However, the M2 Carbon features M Carbon bucket seats made with carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) in the structural elements, shedding approximately 10.8 kilograms from the vehicle's weight.

A Setup button on the center console allows direct access to the engine, chassis, steering, braking system, and M Traction Control settings. Two overall vehicle setups can be saved and recalled using the M buttons on the steering wheel.

In addition to M Traction Control, the M Drive Professional package includes the M Drift Analyzer and M Latimer. The M Mode button on the center console enables adjustments to driver assistance system activity and information display content, with a choice of Road, Sport, and Track settings.

The BMW M2 comes in five exterior colors, namely, Alpine White, Zandvoort Blue, M Brooklyn Gray, Black Sapphire, and M Toronto Red with two available variants, Pure and Carbon, which are priced at P5,990,000 and P8,890,000, respectively, and come with a five-year comprehensive BMW Warranty.
