A larger battery that lets you go further on a single charge is now a part of the 2025 BYD Dolphin.
BYD has announced updates to its Dolphin model for 2025, which are mainly on increasing battery capacity and motor strength. These improvements are created to keep the Dolphin competitive in the expanding electric vehicle (EV) market, serving buyers who are looking for cost-effective yet high-performing vehicles.
Originally launched in 2021 as a part of BYD's e-Platform 3.0, the Dolphin is a huge part of BYD’s lineup of EVs, which also includes models such as Seal, Seagull, and Sea Lion.
The primary update for 2025 is the increase in the smallest battery option from 32 kWh to 44.9 kWh. The upgrade now allows the Dolphin to achieve a driving range of up to 420 kilometers on a single charge as measured by the CLTC standard, which is used primarily in China.
In addition to the base model enhancements, the high-end version of the Dolphin, also known as the Knight variant, now features a 60 kWh battery that allows for up to 520 km of travel on a single charge.
The power and torque outputs have also been increased in this variant, from an original 175 horsepower and 290 Nm of torque to 201 horsepower and 310 Nm, improving acceleration and overall performance.
The 2025 Dolphin also retains its dimensions at 4,125 mm in length, 1,770 mm in width, and 1,570 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,700 mm.
Good news – you don't have to worry about the price going up because of these improvements! Despite these upgrades, BYD has managed to maintain the pricing of the Dolphin, so the vehicle is still a great, affordable choice for anyone interested in electric cars.
While we hope these updates come to the Philippines soon, you can check out BYD’s current models and get a quote for any that catch your eye.
