Ah Abarth, the crazed group of madmen that turns the cute Italian cars of Fiat into fire-breathing monsters. The most prolific model in recent history that you might know is the Abarth 500, a tuned and lowered version of the 500 city car. Aside from the Abarth 500, Abarth is responsible for a huge chunk of Fiat’s performance cars. Simply put, if you want to look for a performance version of Fiat’s passenger vehicles, they’re the ones to look for.
Recently, through a press release from Stellantis, it has been revealed that Abarth is about to launch the Abarth 600e, much like the Abarth 500, this version is a tauter, more powerful version of the Fiat 600e subcompact crossover. The headline, though, is that the Abarth 600e is set to be the brand’s most powerful yet, with 240 hp.
Aside from the power figures though, Abarth has yet to go into specifics. The reveal of the Abarth 600e introduces the exclusive Scorpionissima edition, distinguished by its striking Hypersonic Purple paint. A limited run of 1,949 units of the 600e will be produced to honor the 75th anniversary of Abarth. Also, the Scorpionissima Edition will come with a certificate from Abarth, just in case anyone doubts you own one.
Other upgrades include large 20-inch wheels which Abarth says is needed to house the equally large brakes fitted into the Abarth 600e. Aside from allowing bigger brakes to be fitted, the 20-inch wheels also allow for wider, stickier tires, a must for any self-respecting performance car. To make the car handle better, Abarth is also fitting the 600e with a mechanical limited-slip differential, combined with the bigger brakes, bigger wheels, and 240 hp, the Abarth 600e is set to become a definite favorite for driving enthusiasts.
The Abarth 600e hasn’t launched yet and there is no confirmation yet if it’s coming to any other market outside of Europe so don’t expect anything yet. In the meantime, you can check out other cars available in the Philippine market by heading to the AutoDeal Car Guide.
