Access Plus Racing to compete in the Asia Super Bike 1000 Class
TJ Alberto will the the only Filipino to compete in ASB 1000 this year.
Access Plus, official distributor of Ducati motorcycles in the Philippines, will be fielding a team that will compete in the Asian Super Bike (ASB) 1000 Class of the 2019 Asia Road Racing Championship (ARRC). Called “Access Plus Racing Ducati Philippines Essenza”, the motorcycle team consists of riders Timothy Joseph (TJ) Alberto and Jonathan Serrapica, with team principal Toti Alberto at the helm.
Both Access Plus Racing Ducati Philippines Essenza racers will be using the 2019 Ducati Panigale V4 R, a 998cc World Superbike homologated version of the Panigale V4. Rated at 217 hp and 112 Nm of torque, the Panigale V4R adopts advanced aerodynamics and adjustability similar to the GP16 MotoGP race bike. Suspension is courtesy of an Öhlins fully adjustable titanium nitride NPX front fork and a rear fully adjustable Öhlins TTX36 monoshock.
TJ Alberto, the only Filipino set to compete in ASB 1000 for 2019, is 21 years old and will be his first time to race in the Asia Road Racing Championship. TJ has raced for two seasons in Europe, the first being in the 2017 Campionato Italiano Velocita (Italian Speed Championship) and the second being the 2018 European FIM Superstock 1000 Championship (STK 1000), making history by being the first Filipino on the grid, and scoring points during his time in Europe.
I’ve spent a long time already with Ducati Superbikes riding them for the last 5 years and know the Ducati DNA quite well now. I’m looking forward to racing against the top guys in the ARRC who also come from very prestigious championships as well.
Italian Swiss motorcycle racer Jonathan Serrapica is 34 years old and will also be his first year in ARRC, and has been riding competitively for the past five years. Jonathan was Malaysian Superstock Champion for 2017, and was 1st runner up for Malaysian Superbike in 2018. Originally coming to Singapore to work in the IT business in 2016, Jonathan practices in his free time, and in a short period, has reached the region’s top class by beating professional riders.
The new bike is completely different from what I rode before, so I will expect a really difficult season, but I hope I can be focused and learn a lot, both from my team and from TJ. I hope that at the end of the season they can be proud to have me in the team
The Asia Superbike 1000 Class will complete the Asia Road Racing Championship and is the highest level of production bike racing in the world. It offers a regional platform where riders graduating from their respective national championships can compete. The ASB1000 will run based on FIM Superstock 1000 regulations with machinery that is equivalent to what is being sold for the road going public. The 2019 season will consist of seven rounds, following a two race format, with four main classes – ASB 1000, SuperSports 600cc, Asia Production 250cc, and Underbone 150cc.
