The all-new 11th-generation Honda Civic is slated for a Thailand debut this August 6, 2021. Notably, this also marks the ASEAN entry of the renowned compact sedan. Given that in mind, could the Philippine market, as well as the rest of Southeast Asia, finally get it?
Rumors circulated last June that the all-new Civic was supposed to make its Thai debut in July 2021, apparently, that didn’t push through. Now, Honda Thailand finally has a confirmed launch date. The latest teaser marks August 6, 2021 as the official debut of the compact sedan. You can watch it below:
The Honda Civic’s Thai variant range could only feature the 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine churning out a healthy 180 hp and 240 Nm of torque. This means that Honda will be dropping the 1.8-liter R18 gasoline engine that’s available in entry-level variants of the 10th generation Civic in Thailand. No official words yet if the power figures of the engine will be adjusted for the Thai market. Headlight Magazine even reported that the Civic could possibly get an e:HEV Hybrid variant in 2022.

The interior features the brand’s so-called ‘Human-Centered’ layout that exhibits minimalism at its finest. One striking design cue on its dash has got to be the honeycomb mesh accent stretches from door to door across the dash.
Now that Honda Thailand has finally made it official, our hopes are certainly high right now. With Thailand’s proximity to the Philippines, there is a slight chance that we could be one of the next countries to get this exciting car. Not to mention, almost all Honda vehicles available in the country are sourced from Thailand.
