Before the year ended, Kia provided the media with a full look at the upcoming second-generation Seltos, now featuring a new design, a new platform, and a range of powertrains, including pure internal combustion engines and a hybrid.
Of course, being a new generation, the Seltos has undergone a major makeover. According to Kia, the all-new Seltos embodies what they call the spirit of the “Relentless Innovator”, blending the toughness of SUVs with refined modernity. The front fascia features Kia’s star map lighting signature and comes with a dynamic welcome signature. One of the biggest changes from the previous generation is the redesigned front end: instead of a single housing for the DRLs and headlights, the DRLs now sit along the outer edges of the bumper, while the headlights are integrated into the grille, creating the impression of a grille that spans the entire width of the front bumper.
The rear of the Seltos is a sleeker reimagining of the previous generation’s design, now featuring slimmer LED taillights that almost wrap around the tailgate, stopping just above the Kia emblem where the rear camera is placed.
The X-Line and GT-Line versions of the Seltos differ slightly from the standard variant with the addition of a more rugged front bumper and rear bumper, plus different alloy wheels.
Inside, the all-new Seltos receives a complete reimagining, tailored to the demands of modern mobility—whether you’re commuting through the city, taking the family on a weekend trip, or venturing farther off the beaten path, according to Kia. A low, horizontal dashboard improves forward visibility and creates a wider, more open atmosphere, while clever interior packaging ensures generous headroom and legroom for every passenger.
Kia also introduces a column-type Shift-by-Wire system, which clears up the center console and contributes to the cabin’s clean, uncluttered layout. Premium materials wrap the interior, underscoring a blend of contemporary design and everyday comfort.
Adding to the experience is a wide panoramic sunroof that floods the cabin with natural light, along with customizable 64-color mood lighting that lets occupants set the tone for any journey. The second-row seats recline by up to 24 degrees for added relaxation, while premium audio systems from Harman Kardon and Bose deliver rich, high-fidelity sound tuned specifically to the Seltos’ acoustic profile. Rounding out the tech upgrades is the Kia Connect Store, offering a growing suite of digital personalization and entertainment features, including exclusive content from Disney and the NBA.
On to the mechanical stuff, the Kia Seltos now rides on Kia’s K3 platform, a platform it shares with the Elantra, Kona, and the Accent, among many others. Kia says this platform will bring enhanced body rigidity, improved noise insulation, and balanced chassis tuning to ensure smooth and stable handling.
Propelling the Seltos are a choice of three internal combustion engines. The lineup starts with a standard output 1.6-liter TGDI turbocharged gasoline engine that pushes 177 hp and 265 Nm of torque. This engine can be paired with a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed DCT. Next is the same engine but with a higher output of 190 hp and 265 Nm of torque. This engine has an eight-speed automatic as its sole transmission option. The last engine in the lineup is a 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated gasoline engine that delivers 147 hp and 179 Nm of torque.
Furthermore, Kia says the all-new Seltos will come with optional all-wheel drive, a multi-link rear suspension, and Kia’s Terrain Mode system, which offers Snow, Mud, and Sand settings for added confidence in challenging conditions. Drive Mode Select—Eco, Normal, and Sport—further tailors performance for everything from dense city streets to rougher terrain.
A hybrid variant will join the range in 2026, bringing improved efficiency and everyday practicality. It will offer Vehicle-to-Load capability for powering external devices and debut Kia’s Smart Regenerative Braking System 3.0, which automatically adjusts braking based on traffic and navigation data to maximize energy recovery.
As for safety, the Seltos features a rigid body structure made from ultra-high-strength and hot-stamped steel, complemented by a comprehensive suite of driver-assistance technologies. Systems such as Highway Driving Assist 2, Lane Following Assist 2, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2, Safe Exit Warning, a Surround View Monitor, and advanced parking aids work together to support driver awareness and control. A Head-Up Display projects key information onto the windshield, reinforcing safety through reduced distraction.
Inside, the Seltos integrates intuitive technologies designed for everyday ease. A panoramic display pairs two 12.3-inch screens with a dedicated climate panel, while an AI Assistant powered by generative AI enables natural voice interaction. Over-the-air updates keep vehicle systems current, and Digital Key 2 allows secure, smartphone-based access and sharing.
Global production of the all-new Seltos begins in December 2025 in India, with rollouts in Korea, North America, Europe, and China to follow throughout 2026.
