Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has quietly introduced the 2024 Alphard, the latest iteration of their upscale MPV. This fourth-generation model encompasses a harmonious fusion of dynamic aesthetics, a capacious interior, and a standard hybrid powertrain.
Underpinning the concept of "Forceful x Impact Luxury," the revamped Alphard boasts a design that exudes robustness. To achieve an air of dominance, designers ingeniously integrated an inverted slant into the emblem, stretching it from front to rear. The vehicle's sides feature captivating "irregularities" that evoke a sense of power. The 2024 Alphard's dimensions measure 5,010 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width, and 1,950 mm in height, with a wheelbase of precisely 3,000 mm.
Built upon the TNGA GA-K platform, the all-new Alphard offers a 50 percent increase in rigidity compared to its predecessor. This enhancement is attributed to added reinforcements and strategic placement of structural adhesives. The platform has been meticulously optimized for MPV application, incorporating straight rockers and a V-shaped brace in the rear-lower section of the vehicle. The MacPherson Strut/Double Wishbone suspension system incorporates shock absorbers that adapt their damping force based on road-induced vibrations. The standard tire size stands at 225/55R19.
The traditional V6 engine has been substituted with an electrified 2.5-liter four-cylinder powerplant, known as the A25A-FXS. This innovative engine yields a combined output of 250 hp. The integration of the Toyota Hybrid System and Nickel-metal Hydride (Ni-MH) battery ensures remarkable fuel efficiency, achieving a fuel economy of 17.5 km/L.
Internally, Toyota has made advancements by increasing the space between the front and second-row seats, as well as between the second-row and third-row seats, by 5 mm and 10 mm, respectively. These modifications were achieved through adjustments to the driving position and the construction of the second-row seats. To facilitate easy ingress and egress, the all-new Alphard pioneers Universal Steps on both sliding doors, catering to passengers of all ages. As the doors open, a step emerges approximately 220 mm above ground level, simplifying the entry and exit process. Long assist grips have been strategically positioned on the C-pillars and ceiling sides, ensuring a comfortable transition.
Enhancing the travel experience, Toyota has revamped the sun shades. Notably, the sunroof now incorporates independently operable shades on the right and left sides, allowing occupants to either enjoy the sky's vista or shield themselves from sunlight. Additionally, the vehicle features Toyota's debut pull-down side sunshades, affording passengers the ability to block excessive sunlight while still relishing the outside view.
The Alphard's feature set encompasses a 12.3-inch TFT digital gauge cluster, a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment display, a 15-speaker JBL sound system, and power-operated sliding doors. One standout innovation is the "Super-Long Overhead Console," a centralized unit that consolidates lighting, switches, and air conditioning vents.
Pricing for the 2024 Toyota Alphard starts at P4,980,000 for the Precious Metal and Black color options, with the Platinum White Mica variant priced at P 5 million. (Yes the press release photo is currently unavailable locally.)
