Toyota has been recognized during the 2020 ASEAN NCAP Grand Prix for having the most 5-star rated vehicles in its lineup compared with other brands. Also, some of its models including the Toyota Hilux, Innova, Corolla Altis, and the Granvia (locally known as the Hiace Super Grandia Elite), were given special acknowledgement, given their outstanding dedication to safety.
The event aims to recognize car brands as well as vehicles that achieve the highest safety scores throughout Southeast Asia. Toyota has taken the crown for having the most 5-star rated vehicles. The said ratings were garnered in an assessment from 2019 to 2020.
Our latest roadmap assessment has recently ended last year and thus, this is the perfect timing for us to organize the Grand Prix Awards. Over the years we saw great efforts have been put forward by vehicle manufacturers to ensure their vehicles are offered with the best safety features for the road users. As such, the awards will provide them with competitive edge against other models that do not offer such safety technologies albeit better passive safety technologies or advanced safety assist.
A total ofnine vehicles carry the 5-star AISEAN NCAP rating. This includes the Vios, Yaris, Corolla, Camry, Rush, Corolla Cross, Innova, Fortuner, and the Hiace. Notably, the Hilux, Innova, and Corolla Altis were received citations for continuous safety improvement throughout each succeeding generation. As for the Granvia Toyota Hiace Super Grandia Elite), the van was recognized for scoring the best in safety assist technology.
This goes to show that Toyotas are not only known for their reliability, but the Japanese automaker is also making strides in prioritizing the safety of both driver and passengers.
