The Nissan Navara has been one of the longest-running pickups in the market, with its current generation first introduced more than a decade ago. Rivals like the Ford Ranger, Toyota Hilux, and Isuzu D-MAX have all had updates since then, so the announcement of a new Navara has been highly anticipated.
That wait is almost over since Nissan Oceania confirmed that the next-generation Navara will be revealed in 2026, with Australia getting first dibs, as reported by Drive. Dealers there have already been shown previews of the new model, and sales are expected to begin toward the end of 2026.
The next Navara will share its base with the Mitsubishi Triton, as both pickups will be built in Thailand. This opens the door for common parts such as engines, transmissions, and chassis, though Nissan has assured buyers that the Navara will have its own design and feel. Reports suggest higher-spec trims may get Mitsubishi’s 2.4-liter twin-turbo diesel with 201 hp and 470 Nm, paired with a six-speed automatic, which would be an upgrade from Nissan’s current 2.3-liter twin-turbo unit with 187 hp and 450 Nm.
Even though the two trucks will be built on the same base at Mitsubishi’s factory in Thailand, Nissan has promised that the Navara will still have its own look and character. Executives said that several changes will make sure it feels different from its Triton sibling.
With production based in Thailand, there’s a good chance the Philippine market will see the new Navara not long after it lands in Australia. The Navara has long been loved in the Philippines, where it has earned a name as a reliable and comfortable pickup. If the new model makes its way here, it could attract both loyal Navara fans and new buyers looking for an updated truck.
The question now is when, will the next-generation Navara reach the Philippines soon after Australia, or will it take a while? While waiting, you can browse what’s available now at AutoDeal.com.ph and request a quote for the Nissan you like.
