DPWH Secretary Mark Villar recently confirmed that the BGC-Ortigas Viaduct of the Kalayaan Bridge will soon be opening this coming September 30, 2021. Along with the great dedication and efforts of the workers, an inspection has also been done before the last segment of the 1.48-km road opens to motorists on its target date.
Mark Villar was accompanied in the inspection activity by Undersecretary for UPMO Operations Emil K. Sadain, UPMO RMC 1 Project Director Benjamin A. Bautista, Project Manager Ricarte Mañalac and Project Engineer Emmanuel Regodon, and Engr. Reynaldo Perez of Persan Construction Inc. This was done to ensure that everything is in good order before they open it to the public.
I am grateful for the dedication of our engineers and workers on the ground undertaking round-the-clock construction, rain or shine, to ensure we meet our target opening of the final viaduct segment of BGC-Ortigas Center Road Link Project.
All thanks to the favorable weather conditions and continuous pace of work, the DPHW is confident that they will be meeting the September 30, 2021 target date as promised. Once the BGC-Ortigas Viaduct opens to the public, it will significantly benefit motorists that need to travel between BGC and Ortigas Center in Pasig.
As of now, the government agency is completing the 8th Avenue segment of the viaduct in BGC, with plenty of finishing touches still in the works. Still, the DPWH Secretary is confident that they’ll meet the September 30, 2021 deadline.
This infrastructure flagship project is under the Build Build Build program. Beneficially, the BGC-Ortigas Viaduct should help decongest both EDSA and C-5 of vehicular traffic. will reduce travel time between BGC and Ortigas to just 12 minutes as well as help decongest 20% of traffic volume from the busy Epifano Delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) and C-5 Road.
