Communities in Cebu affected by the recent earthquake received immediate relief assistance from BYD and its partner organizations, in collaboration with Ayala Foundation, Inc. (AFI). The joint relief mission extended aid to residents in Bogo City, San Remigio, Catmon, Daanbantayan, Medellin, Tabogon, and Tabuelan, areas that sustained damage following the tremor.
The initiative was organized through the combined efforts of BYD Cars Philippines, a subsidiary of ACMobility, along with BYD Philippines and BYD Cebu. Ayala Foundation’s #BrigadangAyala program complemented the effort by providing additional resources and logistical support for the affected families.
A convoy of 24 BYD vehicles, including the Sealion 6 DM-i, Sealion 5 DM-i, Shark 6 DMO, and Atto 3, was deployed to deliver critical supplies, including bottled water, food packs, tents, blankets, medicines, and toiletries. The coordinated convoy was joined by volunteers from the BYD Cebu Owners Group, whose participation helped ensure the timely transport and distribution of essential items.
In addition to logistics support, BYD Cars Philippines and BYD Philippines provided monetary assistance to sustain the relief efforts and support volunteers on the ground. Some vehicles were equipped with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, which supplied electricity to residents for charging mobile devices and other essential gadgets, helping them connect with loved ones after the calamity.
Bob Palanca, Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines, expressed sympathy for those affected and said the company remains committed to supporting local communities during crises.
“This joint effort reflects our belief that mobility is not just about moving people, but also about empowering communities in times of need. By combining resources with innovation, we aim to provide meaningful support to Filipinos.”
According to organizers, the collaboration reflects a shared goal among BYD, ACMobility, and Ayala Foundation to combine sustainable technology with community-oriented initiatives in times of disaster.
