BYD goes 'Uzbek' and forth, opens new car factory in Uzbekistan

BYD has started a new car factory in Uzbekistan, which may be a big step in its plan to make and sell more electric vehicles (EVs) 'Uzbek' and forth across the globe. The opening event was joined online by Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and BYD's President Wang Chuanfu. The first car made at this factory is the Song Plus DM-i.

After surpassing Tesla in Q4 in the 2023 EV sales, BYD's Uzbekistan production could definitely help the company make more cars in different parts of the world, further expanding its global reach and market sales. For people in the Philippines, this could mean a few things: BYD might offer more kinds of electric and hybrid cars, which could help Filipinos switch to EVs, contribute to the country's environmental goals, and reduce dependence on traditional fuel vehicles.

Moreover, BYD's expansion into countries like Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Brazil, Thailand, and Hungary could be taken as a good sign that they are definitely striving to maintain their good record this year by showing that BYD knows how to meet different needs in different places. BYD's global expansion could lead to better prices and more options for BYD cars in the Philippines, making it easier for more people to buy EVs.

Earlier this year, as mentioned by CarNewsChina, the Financial Times announced the ongoing process of building a car factory in Indonesia, the sixth car plant outside China next to Brazil, Thailand, Hungary, and Mexico, and the now-producing factory in Uzbekistan.

“As part of our long-term commitment, we envision building an EV ecosystem and fostering development in Indonesia."

With BYD growing globally, getting advanced EV technology and parts in the Philippines might become more manageable, which could mean better services and more available parts for people who own BYD cars in the country.

BYD is certainly not 'uzbek'ing down from its recent win over Tesla, especially after opening its new factory in Uzbekistan. Who knows, perhaps the next factory will be built in the Philippines? For the time being, feel free to explore BYD's current lineup and get a quote for your preferred environmentally friendly BYD car.
