Not too long ago, BYD gave a sneak peek of its Seagull EV, which hinted that the Seagull would soon make its debut, and now, it has officially launched in the Philippines at Manila Bay. The Seagull stands as the brand's sixth model in the Philippines and the most budget-friendly all-electric vehicle as of now. If you've been waiting for an affordable electric car, the Seagull has an introductory price of Php 898K, and it might be exactly what you're looking for.
Though compact, the vehicle can seat five people and offers a driving range of up to 300 kilometers, thanks to its 30kWh BYD Blade battery. The battery can be charged from 30% to 80% in roughly 30 minutes using a DC fast charger, while home charging takes about five hours with a wallbox.
On the outside, the Seagull may look like the common small hatchback, but it is built with an all-electric powertrain. It measures 3,780mm in length, 1,715mm in width, and 1,580mm in height, and rides on 16-inch wheels with a ground clearance of 120mm. The hatchback comes in several colors, including Sprout Green, Delan Black, and Apricity White.
Inside, the Seagull is equipped with a 7-inch instrument display and a 10.1-inch touchscreen that can rotate horizontally or vertically, adding convenience for the driver. Most of the car’s functions, including air controls, are accessible through the touchscreen, making the dashboard clean and simple. The car offers 230 liters of cargo space with the rear seats up, which can expand to 930 liters when folded down.
Under the hood, the Seagull is powered by a single electric motor that produces 74hp and 135Nm of torque, allowing it to reach a top speed of 130kph. It accelerates from 0 to 50kph in 4.9 seconds, making it practical for city driving. The car uses MacPherson struts in the front and a torsion beam setup at the back, with front disc brakes and rear solid discs. It also features regenerative braking to help recharge the battery while driving.
For tech features, the Seagull includes wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity, and a wireless charging pad. Safety-wise, it’s equipped with traction control, stability control, hill-start assist, and BYD’s DiPilot system, which includes a rearview camera and cruise control.
Yes, the wait is definitely over! BYD’s Seagull is now in the Philippines! With a budget-friendly price and good driving range, it’s a great option for anyone looking to go electric without breaking the bank. Check out BYD's full lineup on AutoDeal and get a quote from the comfort of your home.
