Recently Solar Transport and Automotive Resources Inc. (STAR Corp.), the exclusive Philippine distributor of BYD, held their first “Saturdate” at their Shaw Boulevard showroom in Mandaluyong City.
BYD’s Saturdate is a series of gatherings that happen every last Saturday of the month. There, BYD owners get to participate in fun and educational activities with fellow owners and special guests. This is STAR Corp.’s unique way to make the BYD ownership experience more exciting.
“With our Saturdate gatherings, we will get a chance to share our customers’ own milestones with their BYD cars and build our relationship with them,” said Mark Andrew Tieng, Managing Director of STAR Corp.
The first Saturdate was ushered in by Mr. Tieng himself, sharing some of BYD Philippines’ recent milestones like their BYD E6’s inclusion in the 2015 Auto Review Road Safety Olympics and their participation in the 2015 Electric Vehicle Summit.
He also highlighted their deployment of the first batch of BYD F3 taxis in partnership with World Transport and the launching of their BYD 5-Star Customer Service Program and BRO (BYD Response Operation).
Finally, he mentioned the creation of the BYD Dream Builders Media Circle with renowned businessman Francis Kong, the unveiling of the BYD Qin at the 2015 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), and their successful BYD Big Wins promo.
This was then followed by a talk on Road Safety in the Rain with seasoned motoring journalist, Ron Delos Reyes.
According to Delos Reyes, “During a heavy downpour, use your hazard lights only when you stop on the roadside or in case of an emergency. If you’re moving, just leave your headlights and tail lights on, so you remain visible and can still use your turn signals to communicate to other drivers if you are changing lanes.”
He also added that when an earthquake occurs, aside from keeping a sharp presence of mind and not panicking, it’s also best to “Slow down until you can safely pull over and stop. If you're on the expressway, take the first exit that's safe and avoid parking near overpasses, big trees, power lines, bridges and buildings.”
For the time being, the BYD Saturdate will only be held at BYD’s Shaw Boulevard showroom, but it will also take place in all of their dealerships soon.
