BYD Cars Philippines, operating under ACMobility, handed over a P770,000 check to the Healthway Foundation's Cancer Care Hope Fund on April 14, 2026, at the Healthway Cancer Care Hospital in Manila. The donation came as a direct result of the brand's limited-edition Seagull in Seashell Pink campaign, which turned out to be more successful than anyone initially expected.
The limited-edition Pink Seagull isn’t just there to shift units. Launched in July 2025, the campaign targeted a younger, more socially conscious wave of EV buyers, people who see their car purchase as an extension of their values. The original goal was to sell 70 units by year-end. The campaign blew past that, closing out at 77 units sold, and every single transaction contributed to the Cancer Care Hope Fund.
Bob Palanca of BYD Cars Philippines described the effort as a reflection of ACMobility's broader philosophy. He said, "For us at BYD Cars Philippines, this effort embodies the community support that ACMobility stands for— malasakit. It is about going beyond what is expected and finding ways to create a positive impact in the communities we serve."
Healthway Medical Network President and CEO Jef Peeters expressed gratitude and put the contribution into perspective. Cancer care, he noted, is not limited to clinical treatment.
“We are deeply grateful to BYD Cars Philippines and ACMobility for their meaningful support. At Healthway, we believe that cancer care goes beyond treatment—it is about caring for the whole patient, including the emotional, financial, and social challenges that come with the journey. Through the Cancer Care Hope Fund, this contribution allows us to extend that ‘care beyond cure,’ helping more Filipino patients access timely treatment while easing the burden on their families. Ultimately, it is partnerships like these that enable us to deliver more compassionate, patient-centered care and give patients not just better outcomes, but greater hope."
Healthway Cancer Care Hospital is notably the first dedicated cancer specialty facility of its kind in the Philippines, which adds some significance to where this partnership landed. The fund specifically targets the financial barriers that often stand between patients and the treatment they need.
For BYD Cars Philippines, the campaign represents something of a template for how the brand wants to operate in the market. Selling cars and supporting public health are not mutually exclusive, and the Seashell Pink Seagull made a reasonable case for that idea.
