Just recently, BYD unveiled its latest model called the Yuan Up EV. This new subcompact crossover is like a smaller version of the Atto 3 we get here in the Philippines. As expected of its size, the Yuan Up is said to slot below the Atto 3, also known as the Yuan Plus overseas, in China.
Based on the shared platform with the Dolphin hatch and Atto 3 SUV, the Yuan Up boasts dimensions of 4,310 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width, and 1,675 mm in height, placing it in the same size range as vehicles like the Toyota Yaris Cross, the Hyundai Creta, and Mazda’s CX-3. In addition, the Yuan UP has a wheelbase of 2,620 mm and is equipped with either a 70kW or 130kW electric motor that propels the front wheels, offering an estimated driving range of up to 400 km.
Inside, the BYD Yuan Up can carry five passengers and features amenities such as a panoramic sunroof and the familiar rotating 15-inch infotainment display found in other BYD models available here in the Philippines like the Dolphin and of course, the Atto 3.
As evidenced by the name, the Yuan Up EV is part of the brand’s Dynasty Series, as such this SUV adopts the brand's refreshed Dragon Face design. The new design, in the case of the Yuan Up, is characterized by sleek LED headlights, vertical air intakes, and a narrow, enclosed grille accentuated by a chrome base that seamlessly integrates with the daytime running lights. Other features to note include flush door handles, a panoramic sunroof, and either 16- or 17-inch alloy wheels sporting a stylish five-spoke design. At the rear, the Yuan UP has a full-width light bar that shares a similar lighting signature with the BYD Dolphin.
Right now, BYD offers the Atto 3 and the Tang EV in its lineup of crossovers. With that said, the brand does have a space for a model to slot in the subcompact crossover segment. Hopefully, BYD sees the opportunity and brings the Yuan Up into the Philippines.
While we wait for more news on the Yuan Up EV, you can head over to the BYD Car Guide on AutoDeal.com.ph and check out the brand’s lineup of eco-friendly vehicles.
