Just a bit longer, the curtain’s almost up and we'll all get to see the BYD Seal 06 GT. BYD's newest electric hatchback takes its design inspiration from the eye-catching Ocean M Concept shown at the Beijing Motor Show. The new model uses familiar designs with fresh tweaks, with the goal of attracting worldwide attention and making a strong contender in the electric vehicle market.
The Seal 06 GT, scheduled for its first showing on August 30, has toned down some of its more dramatic concept features for more practical use. The production model features sporty but more toned-down intakes and a simpler rear design than the concept. These modifications bring forth BYD's effort to produce a car that looks good and works well for daily use.
Internally, the Seal 06 GT mirrors some interior aspects of the BYD Seal sedan but stands out with its unusual dashboard and ventilation system design, making sure it remains fresh and modern. It places itself comfortably within the market, slightly larger than competitors like the VW ID.3, providing ample space without infringing on the dimensions of larger crossovers like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6.
Technologically, the Seal 06 GT is built on BYD’s advanced e-Platform 3.0 Evo and is expected to offer both single and dual-motor setups. As reported by CarScoops, the newest car suggests power capabilities, with the single-motor version expected to deliver 215 hp, while the dual motor could offer 416 hp.
The countdown to the launch is on, and everyone's looking forward to seeing the new Seal 06 GT in action. With its introduction, the Seal 06 GT could become a huge part of BYD's plan to break into markets beyond China, including Europe and Australia.
